Default Missing exhaust bolts

I put my C7 up on a lift just to take a look at the underside. I have 2 bolts missing from the exhaust retainer block just behind the tunnel plate. There obviously were bolts there at one time since you can see the marks. Can't imagine they fell out. It looks like they would pull the block up about 1/2". Maybe they were pulling the exhaust up too high and it was hitting something? Any thoughts?

I'll ask the dealer if he knows anything about it.

Thanks,

Rick

Subscribed - this should be very interesting. Someone quick - go look at your car to see if this is normal / abnormal.

You can just barely see them at the bottom of this picture.

i don't mean to sound like an idiot, and maybe its just the angle, but from the 2 pics here, the OP's looks like something is odd. Not just the missing bolts, but that whole piece that the bolts are holding up in the second pic...

Yours is very different from mine. Look at where your bolts are, and the spacing. Mine is a Z51 without the optional exhaust.

Yup, definitely looks like it's missing. You can tell that there used to be bolts there. It's part of the hangers, very odd they are missing. Did you buy your car used?

Yes, but from the same dealer that sold it new. I'm assuming any servicing was done there........I'll ask.

Hopefully your selling dealer will take care of you and add the bolts to the exhaust.

I bet the previous owner had a aftermarket exhaust. When the dealership or the previous owner removed the exhaust they deemed it not important for the next owner to get it 100%.

Those bolts just don't come loose and IF they did, the chance that both did is slim to none.

Have the dealer install new ones and be on your way, I would have them do a thorough check of everything else while they are down there.

Or there was some service work done that called for the dropping/removal of the exhaust, and these two fasteners were somehow forgotten.

Maybe this is irrelevant, but how many times besides the initial pickup have you had the car into the dealer, or anywhere to have it on a lift? Since you're in Canada, is it possible that there is some part of the underbody that is not connected when it is imported/shipped, and then installed in Canada, per national regulations?

Yes missing. Just changed mine to put new "X" pipe on. Think they are 13mm. Holds the rubber vibration thingy to the floor.

Any GM service department can enter your vin into the GM Vehicle Information System. It will list all warranty work done on the car beginning with the PDI.

Thank you, just did that. Found that the flex plate was replaced (due to rattle) so that is likely when the bolts were removed and not replaced. And here I thought it was a light-weight racing modification.
