Default Stealth mode for exhaust

Can a '15 owner tell me what the stealth mode does on NPP? I always thought it was tour or sport. Apparently there is also a eco/stealth mode that I just found out.

Is it actually quieter than tour mode?

Don't think I'll ever use it... Just curious.

Thanks!

Stealth keeps it quiet in ALL modes, opposite of locking it open in the exhaust settings....

Not Nissan Leaf quiet, but you could mistake it for a 4 banger at least from the inside. Never had a V8 sports car that sounded so tame.

If I read correctly, stealth is a new addition to the engine sound management for 2015. In 2014 under engine sound management, there was only 2 choices on or off

I'm curious if there are different versions of NPP that have been rolled out into production through time. My 2015 C7 has only two modes for exhaust settings, AUTO or OFF. This is as is documented in the 2015 owners manual on page 5-47 which reads:

"Engine Sound Management

This allows the Engine Sound
Management feature to be turned
on or off.
Select Auto (Mode Selector) or Off."

Note that there is no "Stealth" mode documented in the instructions in the manual or in the car's actual Settings interface. I would be curious if anyone has a 2015 with different/additional settings for the NPP exhaust.

Mine is a 2015 also. There is a specific setting on my touch screen that says stealth, tour, sport and track. Stealth and tour sound pretty much the same to me. Track and sport also sound the same to me but track seems to be a little louder when shifting. I definitely have more than just the two options on mine.

Same here on my 2015.

IIRC, the salesman told me the '14 NPP doesn't close the "quiet" valve until just after engine start, so you'll get a quick bark form the exhaust on startup. Is this true? For '15, too?

Does the stealth mode kick in before the engine is started so you don't get the bark?

Thanks guys...

Glen, so does it override the settings or something? so when it's in stealth mode, it will be quiet even in track.

I don't see how this is any diff than putting it on "off" with the '14s

I was thinking like stealth closes all the valves all the time. Tour opens one up if you accelerate or something, and sport will open both on acceleration with track keeping them open all the time.

Again... I have no idea. Was just speculating lol

as I understand it, the valve stay closed (quiet) in all modes, no matter what the car is doing or you are doing to the car...hence the name "stealth"...

like I said, this is essentially the opposite of "off" (loud) which locks the valves open all the time (except from some cruising situations)

I keep mine in track mode so it always seems louder to me.

Responses from actual 2015 owners, like bapd77's for example, are spot on. That's more accurate than 2nd hand info.

This feature has been discussed for a year here. You certainly dont need to own a 15 to understsnd it. It was supposed to be on 14’s and in the sales training at spring mountain last year. Its even in print in the 2014 sales guide, in addition to a " city" mode.

As previously stated, I keep mine in track mode all the time because I like the sound, but I have changed it numerous times to show other people how it works and just playing with it. I still kinda think it may truly be bimode exhaust with sport and track being the same and stealth and tour being the same. I don't see a whole lot of difference in those when messing with it....especially tour and stealth. They sound exactly the same on idle and revving.

The system is simple, it is either open or closed. It is closed (quiet) for eco, weather and touring. It is open (loud) for sport and track. It can be locked open for all modes "off" and closed for all modes (stealth)
