I saw on some post a while back about the thing called Curb alert. I went to pull onto a drive and something hit. No damage, but I did not like what I heard. I am now thinking about putting on one of those curb alert systems. My question is this, when I pull into my garage I have a 2x4 to tell me when to stop. I am sure the curb alert will let me know this is there. How do I stop it from sounding in the garage, or when the car is parked?

This will be my next purchase, both for the Vette and the Charger.
I don't think you can have it disregard the 2 x 4 in your garage. I think it either sees it or it doesn't. I'm probably going to set mine up for 20" away and 4" high, per a video I saw.

Correct, the unit does not have "selective target acquisition", if its in front of you in the target area, its gonna beep.

I use a 2x4 as well, but only a short one in front of one tire, so my curb alert doesn't see it. Whether it's a 2x4 in your garage or a curb, it shuts off with the car so it doesn't keep beeping.
It beeps 3 quick consecutive chirps when it detects an obstacle. It does not beep continuously. It shuts off 20 minutes after you turn the car off. It is a very low-draw on the car's battery and will not drain it.
See the video in the vendor's thread below for more details.
I installed the curb alert this past spring and after four months of multiple calibrations I disconnected the unit . It worked well for a short while when approaching curbs and was a life saver but then it started going off constantly when traveling on a flat road which became very annoying .Repeated calibrations did not correct the issue ,so I pulled the plug on it . It's a great concept but I could just not get it adjusted to minimize or eliminate false alerts .

I thought I might be the only one. Maybe it was set up error on my part, but I would get a lot of false alarms. Would beep every time I left my driveway and on flat roads. Finally drove me crazy I ripped it out and tossed it.

I was having this same problem with my C6, it was a loose ground wire on the curb alert. Once I tightened it the problem went away.

Our Curb Alert is designed to prevent front end damage to C7's when parking against concrete parking curbs. We recommend a 20 inch distance alert and a 4 inch curb height setting to protect your C7. With those settings, the Curb Alert will not detect a 2x4 (1.5 inch x 3.5 inch ) in your garage. The 4 inch curb height setting will protect the front end and also eliminate road false alerts caused by too low a curb height setting (1-2.5 inches). Curb Alerts will only alert once with 3 beeps when an obstacle is detected and then remain silent. The Curb Alert will also shut off automatically when the engine is turned off.
Please watch our C7 Installation video for more information @
Something like this should be part of standard equipment.
Agree. I installed my curb alert in my C7 about 10 months ago, and it has worked. It requires some tinkering to get the adjustment to your liking, but works well to prevent curb damage.
I had initial issues with false alarms while driving, but a slight adjustment in the angle of the unit took care of that. Wouldn't want to be without it.
I've seen these units mounted in the grill vs under the car. Any pros/cons on the locations. I'm concerned that mounting it under the car will result in it being torn off in a short period of time. But, I'm also concerned that mounting in the grill will cause false alarms due to the steep angle of the detect to the road/obstacles.

Mine is installed under the "bumper" as in the Curb Alert instructions. No issues with clearance. If you rip it off as the result of hitting something, you probably have more to worry about than a little $150 device.
