Default Speed / RPM limiter setting

I want to let my teenage daughter drive my '15 Z51 but am a little apprehensive (for obvious reasons!). I thought there was a speed or RPM limit setting included with the valet mode. Does anyone have any feedback on this? Many thanks!

Why would you want to let your teenage daughter drive a new Z51? First, there is a greater risk of her getting into an accident. Second if I was a teenage boy and knew a teenage girl with a new Z51 ...well think about it.

Unfortunately, speed and rev limiter don't exist for valet mode. Responsible? If so, I would let my daughter take it for a spin... after a few lessons of course.

There was also mention of a teen mode (don't know if its really there), but neither it nor valet mode had a limiter, just automatic recording.

There are 5 settings available "teen" is not one of them.

Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track.

Page 5-47 of the 2015 C7 manual states:

Teen Driver Speed Limiter

If equipped, this allows the maximum speed limit of the vehicle to be set.
Select Off or On.

I don't believe this feature is available.

Teenage offspring of either gender and a new C7 aren’t a good pairing if you value their health, your car or your insurance premium.

Too bad there isn’t a low power key, limits HP to 150 or something. Don

A crash at any speed is not a good thing. Why take the chance just to let your teenage daughter drive your Vette.

Take her to a driving course at Spring Mountain first... It may save her life no matter what car she is driving.

You need to buy her a 2015-16 Shelby GT 350 and set up Ford My Key.
OR. there are programs available for your phone or for gps transmitters that will log her driving patterns.

Just learned my oldest son "borrowed" my Porsche and had it sideways in a bridge... Fortunately for both of us, he straightened it out. Found this out from one of his friends from back in 1986, just last week. They also took our BMW 533i when we were out of town and an employee spotted them and reported it to me at the time it happened. Even a Ball and Chain couldn't slow him down! Now he drives like a Grandma and won't let me drive his toys! What a *****.... LOL ( so I steal them when he's at work!!!!!)

Hmm! If you need a speed limiter you’re in trouble before you start! You can get in a lot of trouble at lower rpms! My 17 year old granddaughter wanted to drive my Vette when they visited this summer. She had never driven a standard shift! Contemplated finding a large parking lot but decided to let her “learn” in the driveway! Held my hand over the parking brake the whole time! Didn’t need it, she is very responsible and a quick learner. But they live 1000 miles away so I don’t have to be concerned about her wanting to drive it on the road! Would not allow that from a concern for her safety.
When I bought my ’87 Vette, I sold my 1984 Dodge Colt turbo to a person at work. I warned her not to let her daughter drive it! I had installed 14 inch Pirelli P Zero’s on custom wheels. It had the ability in low-low (it had a 2 speed in back of a 4 speed) to pull the wheel out of your hand if you were not careful! The magazines called it a pocket rocket and it was! About a month after buying it she let her young daughter drive it to school and she wasn’t sure if it was a “deer of a dog” that caused her to drive it in a ditch and total the car! Fortunately she was not injured. Teenagers have a way of doing stupid things! I did but fortunately never had an accident! Can’t say it is all their fault, it’s lack of experience. That is best learned on a slower, more predictable car! Just my opinion.

If he were planning to be the co-pilot, he wouldn't need the speed or rpm limiter - I am pretty sure the OP means letting her drive the car alone.

Having a 17 year old daughter myself, there is no way she has the experience or capability to handle my C7.

I won't let any of my kids drive my Vette. My kids are 24, 22, 19, & 18.

In fact, I close my eyes when my wife wants to - she's 28!!!
