Default First to Second Rev Match?

Strange issue, this only happens while rev match is turned on for my 7mt car. Sometimes when shifting from first to second gear the throttle will blip up to 3500 rpm or so for no reason...when it should be dropping as i was shifting from first gear at a much lower rpm.

Has anyone seen this? Does it anticipate that i was going to skip-shift into 4th gear but then gets confused when i go into second?

I have seen mine overrev slightly if I take to much time performing the shift but it never went to 3,500 rpm.

I'll have to verify next time it happens maybe it didn't go that high, you've seen it though? And mostly when shifting slowly?

Rev match works best if you don't delay gear lever movement and clutch application. I use this function often, cycling rev match on and off as driving conditions dictate. There is a feel that you acquire.

Cool i just don't want it to accidentally throttle blip an upshift while I'm at the track and kick the *** end out, as long as this is something normal that happens and not mine being broken it's all good.

I agree that you must shift fairly quickly or it gets a little strange. Not for just cruising around town, best suited for when you are really driving the car hard.

I have also noted this over-rev tendency on first to second. After carefully working on technique it can be toned down quite a bit just have to get the timing perfect on throttle release as the gear change is made. Be sure your getting off of the throttle completely. But, that said, its much better to turn rev match off in upshifting patterns at higher throttle acceleration.

Sounds like the car isn't really sure what gear you are intending to go to if you linger in the neutral part of the gate too long. Perhaps it is thinking you are going back to first? I don't quite get the rationale behind up shift rev matching anyway. Does it actually suppress revs as you are up shifting to match the higher gear?

Have had my Z51 M7 since October 2013. I always use rev match, love it for downshifts and really don't notice it for upshifts. I recall once or perhaps twice having what you describe occur! I don’t recall what speed it was at the time, but if anticipating a 1st to 4th shift should have been even a lower rpm match. Rev match does not work, nor is it supposed to for a 2nd to 1st downshift, not sure if it supposed to on a 1st to 2nd upshift. If so it should be reducing not increasing rpm! Hard to define any logic that would make that happen. Must be a computer glitch or my right foot was not fully off the gas peddle!
