I agree with you about the safety issue. I was out right after I picked up my C7 and was in bumper to bumper making a tight turn onto a very narrow bridge. I was going so slow due to traffic it locked me out of second and it took me 3-4 seconds to realize what was going on and get moving. The car behind me slammed his brakes and narrowly avoided hitting me because I started and move and to him, just stopped for no reason.
I think the problem is it doesn't occur often so when it does it's not expected! Glad the fellow behind you was alert, as you say they don't expect a slowdown, especially if the car in front of you has moved along!

Does not affect the preference so should be a non-issue with warrantee.
