Default About to pull the trigger

So I have been lurking around here off and on for years. 6 kids + USMC did not equal a new Vette. Times have changed and looks like a will buy my first one soon. I have read and searched but still have questions if somebody could give me some feedback.

1) Allocations. I know what I think I want but I really don't want to get jerked around. I have waited this long so waiting isn't the issue as much as the constraint/allocation business. If I find a C7 that is close to my specs and the price is right wouldn't it make sense to get it?

2) GM Supplier pricing. I already registered under the Military link and can pull an authorization number but haven't yet. Is that tied to a dealer or can I take it anywhere?

3) Dealer trades. I have bought numerous new cars and when I find what I want the local dealers have swapped cars to get it to their dealership for me. Do Chevy dealers do trade outs with corvettes? I have one local dealer I refuse to do business with and they just so happen to have the one I want in OKC.

4) HUD. Do YOU really use it that often to justify going up from a 1LT to 2LT?

I appreciate the comments.

I'll answer what I can.
3) My local dealer would but none of the other dealers they trade with would give up a Vette. Allotments are low in my area so I traveled a little to save a lot. Negotiations favor you if the car is at the dealer.
4) Yes

2) This come comes first. You need to find a dealer that accepts the pricing program you are wanting to use.
1) They need to have allocation and tell you honestly when.
3) Most will not want to mess with it......especially when you are buying at a discount price.
4) I like it more then I thought I would.

4. I always thought that the HUD was just a gimmick that I would never use. Then in 2012 I took a C6 out of dealer stock that happened have the HUD. Well, as the result, when I decided to buy a new C7 there was NO WAY I was not getting the HUD. I use it every day and wished it was in my other two vehicles...

  1. If you find what you want in inventory and the price is right, get it. If you are going to order, you definitely need to understand allocations and constraints. How many allocations does your dealer get each cycle? What items are you ordering that are on constraint? The more constrained items, the harder it is to get an allocations that includes all of them.
  2. Authorization number is NOT tied to a dealer, but you do need to find a dealer that accepts the discount.
  3. Not likely.
  4. Love the HUD, but only you can decide if you want to have it enough to justify the price.

Cowzrul,

I would go to Marcus Avilas, David Stanley Norman. He is a great salesman and will work to get you what you are after. They have allocations as well. They hovered around number 20 in the nation for C7 sales the last few quarters. I will be ordering with him in a few weeks for a March NCM Delivery. Based on my trade he will be coming with us for the delivery.

Again, go down to Norman and ask for Marcus. Tell Him Dave sent you, not that I will get any kickback, but he is more of a friend than salesman... If you are new to Vette ordering I would be happy to meet you down there and tell you what I know...BTW if this is your dream, you must atleast think about an R8C delivery in BG...

Just my thoughts...

Doc

The HUD was the main reason I upgraded to 2LT. I really like that feature.

You will love having HUD, the 2LT package is worth the money. Cool seats in summer and warm seats in the winter, win-win!

I do not have a C7, but my last three C5s have had the HUD on them and I will not have another Vette without that feature. I use it all the time.

Thank you for all the feedback. I have a Platinum Tundra that has every bell and whistle and I don't use the heated or cooled seats. Rarely use the nav either. My wife uses hers in her Sequoia so she wants the 2LT for the seats. For me I would rather have the Performance Exhaust and larger wheels in the Appearance Package versus the Nav and different seats. Sounds like HUD is a favorite across the board.
