Has anyone done the conversion of a base car to the wide body?

There is a long thread here on this subject by Ben@weaponX titled "Z06 widebody..."

The hard part is changing to the flared rocker panels required to align with the flared rear fenders. It requires heat and a lot of chiseling to cut away the rockers that are bonded to the frame.

This is why we'll see very few C7 widebody conversions unlike the C6 where it was simple bolt-ons ... Unless GM again needs to stimulate sales of an aging product by offering Z06 parts on the base-engine car).

I think the easiest conversion is called a "trade in."

And the one that makes the most sense from a financial POV.

After converting my 08 C6 into a widebody, I swore I would never do it again. The money that is spent on parts, paint, labor, tires and rims is just not worth it. As much as I like what Ben has done to his C7, I cannot get myself to do that again. A few years down the road when you decide to sell your car, forget about getting some of your money back with any mods. I modded my C7 to my liking within my budget.
