If you're going to order a C-7 why not order it with it? If you're buying used, then dicker with having the dealership purchasing it and installing it on the car? If you plan on buying from a private party and installing one yourself, then yes, you'll have to remove the rear bumper cover for the install. How much of a PIA it is depends on your skill level and how eager you are to tackle the job.

Yes, the rear bumper has to come off to put nuts on the spoiler. I ordered the Z51 spoiler with my car, but it was still dealer installed
You should also consider adding the Level 1 Z06 front splitter.
It installs easily and still leaves 6 inches of clearance on the nose.
I used a combination of plastic rivets and metal bumper cover screws instead of the metal rivets that GM provides with the kit.
Bought my non-Z51 car from dealer stock, which had been ordered with Z51 spoiler, as a dealer installed option. Dealer delivered car without it installed, saying they didn't know if I wanted it installed, which was good since I changed the color. When I went back to the dealer to get it installed, their body shop, which is a sub-contractor, installed it, and then tried to charge me $267. They said it was a three hour job.
I took my C7 to A body shop and they installed the Z51 rear spoiler. They had to remove the rear bumper.Took them about an hour.It looks great.I saw somewhere that they now A stick on spoiler.
I ordered my '14 without the spoiler. While I was waiting for the car to be built I ordered the spoiler for $368 shipped from an on-line parts store saving almost $200. Did the same thing with wheels, ordering the base painted wheels and then finding a set of new chrome take-offs with tires and sensors for $1900 here on the forum. Dealer agreed to install the spoiler and swap out the wheels for no charge at the time of delivery. Then I sold my base wheels/tires for $1800 (cleared $1500 after the shipping expense) so the chrome upgrade cost me $400. You might want to check out the price of the spoiler with one of our forum sponsors instead of giving that money to your dealer. Might also save some sales tax this way.
What does a body shop charge to install the Z51 rear spoiler?
Removing the rear bumper sounds difficult for a mechanically challenged guy like me. I don't even own a tool set. I also bought the Z06 front grill which I'll need installed as well. The shops here in SoCal charge $$$$$ especially West Coast Corvettes, who say the Z51 sway bar installation takes them 5 hours! Others here say it's more like 2 hrs to install the sway bars. I'm in Riverside/Corona/ San Bernardino area, a referal would be appreciated! Kudos to the Forum members who are very kind and helpful.

I WATCHED the guy install my sway bars...about 50 min.....you are at the mercy of those around you, time to buy a tool set and start learning to do these type things yourself. You and a buddy can do it. I'm sure you have a mechanically inclined friend...
Pm me a email address and I'll send you the instruction...get the wing....better deal, imo
It's an hour install for both.....did mine myself
A friend of mine maybe buying a AW Z51 with AW mirrors and rear wing. I have an AW Z51 with carbon flash mirror and wing. I orgionally ordered a AW with matching mirror and wing but ended up buying an AW with carbon flash mirrors and rear wing. He wants carbon flash mirrors and wing. How difficult would it be for us to swap mirrors and rear wings?
