Default Update

Not to belittle your experience and I'd be just as furious but when does the "next season" of the sage begin? I'm dying to know what happened and if GM did the right thing. Or - did you settle and sign a NDA?

Instead of Lemon Law talk to General Motors about a "substitution of collateral" for your Corvette. I went down this road with BMW North America and it all worked out for the best in the end.

Good Luck Steve
I have been in a similar situation with BMWNA. I bought a "new " 3 series from a dealer in Grand Rapids, MI. Turns out, I looked at the car from a distance one day and noticed a different hue in the paint on the door. The car had been damaged and repainted and sold as new.

I pushed BMW on it and ended getting a newer model due to a chassis change at no extra cost. They do a collateral swap on the loan and you're in business. I played the hand that I drive my children to school in this vehicle and I have no way of knowing the extent of damage thereby questioning the safety of the vehicle.

You are in a tough spot because it's all the dealers fault and really has little to do with GM...

What was the final resolution for this case? OP has a current thread going about another case with a newer Vette, so wondering how this one turned out.

Sorry it took so long to update this, it basically took a year for a lawyer to resolve the issue, as stated previously Mall Chevy in Cherry Hill NJ was wonderful and completely fixed my car before the settlement.

Good luck with your latest saga. Hope you don't have to go down that same road again.

I read through this entire thread last night as I am the new owner of a C7. Man that just sucks. Funny I didn't see anything like this before I bought the car and now I've seen a few horror stories. So what was the end result as far as what was actually wrong with your gear box? Was it a simple linkage adjustment? Was it the threat of legal action that got it resolved? Inquiring minds want to know.

It was actual legal action which got it resolved. First nothing was wrong with the car prior to the first shop fixing the gas tank sender issue. The tech working on the car misaligned the shifter and never torqued any bolts he touched. This resulted in the entire rear subframe shifting while driving along with the transmission to no longer being able to shift into 1-2 gear. The tech than took the car on a documented joy ride which exacerbated the problems. He also ripped out the reverse camera as he did not unhook it when he removed the rear bumper.

the fix was to have the entire rear suspension assembly torqued and replace all of the missing bolts plus realign the shifter linkage. Unfortunately all of this took months because of all of the back and forth. Again the final dealership Mall Chevy did an excellent job of correcting all of the issues.
GM settled with my attorney for the problems.

What was your total out of pocket for legal fees and car repairs, if any? Or, were you completely made whole?

I commend you on taking them to task and getting what was rightfully yours. It's almost not surprising that this kind of thing can happen in todays world of "nobody gives a ****"
As much as taking them to court was a PITA you did the right thing by lawyering up and bringing down the hammer. I would have done the same thing although they would probably have to buy a new entrance to their dealership as there would have been a new Corvette that got in their showroom the hard way. Unbelievable and yet sadly not.
