Default Ordering a 2015

I have had 1 c5, presently own a 08 z06. I will be ordering a base 1lt c7 , 7 speed, black on black, zf1 appearance pkg with the z51 chrome wheels and optional exhaust. Any stay away from issues on the c7? Or other advice

Depending on your color and overall look you want, I can definitely recommend the carbon flash badges. Big improvement over the chrome.....IMHO.

Agree with the carbon flash. Since you're coming from a C6 Z06, you might want to consider the Z51 package instead of the appearance package. You're bound to compare the two cars, and the base suspension will feel softer than what you're used to (maybe that's a good thing).

Black car, you wont see carbon flash emblems, do no want the complexity of the dry sump, will never track the car so the Z51 is a over kill for the street. Thank you very much, you are making me think.

Hi this is dave I am in the process of buying a c7. I did find one at our chevy garage Its a z51 lt2 . White with red interior and has the carbon package. I never had a z51 . I am driving a 2009 ls3 . thinking of trading it in on the z51 and its manual. Not sure what to expect out of the z51.

I don't think there are really any stay away issues, just preferences. I went 2LT for creature comforts and the HUD, plus I wanted Kalahari interior (which does not apply to you) but if those don't matter 1LT is perfect. I avoided NAV as I use my phone and never planned to track the car, so the PDR was a waste to me.

2 options I wouldn't do without are Mag ride and the NPP exhaust. Personally I thought the z51 package gave a lot for the money and glad I went with it. Only thing my car has that I definitely would not get it the PDR, really doubt I'll have much use for it but it seems a lot of the cars on the lots have it as I'm sure it's a huge money maker.

If you are never going to track the car , the z51 is a not a good place to put your money. I agree on the look, that's why there is the zf1 appearance pkg. The z51 will make the car edgy, very sensitive to your every input and harsher ride compared to the base car.
There is also the many mechanical complexities of the z51 pkg that of course makes the car more complex. Less complex, less issues.
Technology is great, but simple doesn't break.

You may have a point on the complexities part but with the mag ride the Z51 can be anything you want it to be, a ***** cat or a lion, your choice.

That is what I understand , add the Mag ride and the z51 pkg, lot of money and no way to use it or appreciate it unless you track it.

Looks like you've got it covered. Since you're coming out of an 08Z, I can understand why you might want to move away from the lumber truck ride of the 08Z, on all but mainly smooth roads( I had an 08Z for two years and loved the " one with the car " feeling, but didn't like the hard ride). The base model ride will probably be a welcome change for you.

if you will never track the car (like me) really Z51 is not needed. If you feel like you must spend that kind of money, get a 2LT or a 3LT without it.

I have no idea why anyone would need a dry sump, E-LSD with coolers and stiff suspension because they wanna stomp on the gas at a traffic light once in a while. Only benefit I would see is resale value as when C8 comes out, people will want C7 Z51s to make a track car out of for cheap...

I didn't mind the Z ride, I wanted the 1/4 mile performance to spank those pesky 662 hp gt500 mustangs

If you go with the ZF1 package and the chrome wheels, I would stay away from the carbon flash badges. The chrome badges will tie better with the chrome wheels. IMO, the darker badges were meant for black wheels.

If you're coming from a Z06, I suggest you get a C7 test drive somehow. I would expect you'd find the base suspension too soft. I find the Z51 touring mode has too much dive and roll for me and the base suspension is softer still.

I am not a fan of dark wheels and I want the badges/emblems visible.
Being the car will be black, it hides all the ducts and vents and a single color in the rear. Monochromeatic. Thanks for your opinion.
