I've only been around here for a short time, and did a little searching, but haven't really haven't been able to determine the official "consensus" on this issue: Is the PDR 0-60 timer more accurate than the in-dash timer? I've read that the in-dash timer starts when you hit the gas, not when the car moves - has this been officially confirmed? Yesterday I took my son for our first joy ride since I got the car (a week ago). My 500 mile drive from the dealer took care of my break in, and I got the oil changed a couple days later. We went out yesterday to play with the PDR, and got an open road for a second so we tried a 0-60 run. I didn't know how to start the in-dash timer, so we relied on the PDR in performance mode. I was just in sport mode since I hadn't learned about the launch control and all of the different track mode settings. Did a low-rpm start that felt horrible, and we were laughing that it had to be over 6 seconds. Got home and viewed the video and saw that it was a 4.5. We got a good laugh that it was that easy to achieve a number like that. Today on the service road in front of my house, I made two more runs using the PDR and the in-dash timer, which I've now learned to use. Did two runs, both with bad wheel spin, still in sport mode, and got a dash timed 5.2 and a 5.0. But when I viewed the video from the PDR, the times were 5.0 and 4.9. So what's the consensus on the disparity between the two 0-60 timers?
Oh, and on the first run, I held it to 100 then let off. My 0-100 time was 9.9 (impressive for a really crappy run on my part), and despite letting off the throttle when I hit 100, the PDR was still recording when I hit a quarter mile - at 13.4. It's just incredible that this car can run a 13.4 1/4 mile even when you let off the throttle at 100 mph! I honestly do not miss my 911 that I traded in at ALL - and that fact still amazes me since I've been a Porsche lover since my pre-teen years. I really expected to miss it at least a little bit.
