Went to the store last night and parked next to an old Caddy. Talked to the owner who informed me it was a 1967 with 75,000 miles, original paint (light blue) with white Le Tourneau top. With the exception of very minor damage in front of left rear tail light, this car was like showroom new.
Three different people stopped to look at it, all very impressed. Not a single word about my Torch Red C7, not even so much as a glance at it.
Told the guy I was going to get into my (obviously) POS and go home.
Very discouraging - $65k down the drain for nothing.
Benzes are a dime a dozen and aren't worth my 2 second look. Stingray all the way.. unless its a new.. or old Cadillac near it
First of all, Cadillacs aren't in the same hemisphere as a Rolls Royce. For lots of different reasons.
A 1930's era Benz is and would be much more interesting than a C7!
Funny how we are all so different. I always hated when my car would draw people in. My former 08 Atomic Orange coupe used to suck them in at the gas stations. Don't get me wrong, all nice people just wanting to talk about cars. Always 100 questions and while each time I smiled and answered all questions, I kept thinking, "Ugh, if only this car did not draw so much attention!".
I know, why did I buy an Orange car if I didn't want attention? Simple really, The only other color in 08 that I liked was black and having owned black cars and knowing my OCD, I didn't want to have another wife knowing the upkeep on black cars as well as I do
My only reason for wanting a Corvette is as far back as I can remember, I would say "Someday I will own a Corvette". Just a childhood dream I could finally fulfill in 2008.
I did get "married" again to my 15 being it is black but again, no other colors aside from the retired 14 LRG appealed to me.
That's the car - or just like it. Don't know which model ... but the C7 was a mouse compared to the Caddy; length of the C7 was from just in front of the Caddy's front tire to just behind the rear window.

I'd probably look at the Benz before the C7, but would be sure to also check out the 'vette if I didn't already have one just like it.
I feel privileged to have a C7; I bought it for myself, but don't mind admiring glances and positive comments.
"$65,000 down the drain" - yes, I'm kidding you. Turn on the Comedy Channel and try and find a sense of humor.
"Really? That bothers you?" - did you not notice the smiley face? No, it doesn't bother me. I was amused.

You're wrong. Cadillac were at one time Rolls Royce competitors. In 1930 the Cadillac Phaeton or V16 was a Rolls competitor thru and thru. Even in the 50s Cadillac was offering vehicles that were on Rolls Royce level of luxury such as the Series 70 Eldorado Brougham
A Benz from 1930 to 2015 would get as much attention from me as Rosie Odonell would if she were surrounded by Kim Kardashian, JLo, Adrianna Lama, Halle Berry, and Scarlett Johanssen and they were offering to engage me in an orgy, if a Cadillac is around.
People really need to do check the history, and on top of that realize that when Cadillac started having issues it was around the same time that Benz and BMW, for that matter, started to improve their vehicles.
For instance this is a 1985 Benz Sclass
and a Same year Cadillac.
Sorry Import fans, Cadillac makes that Benz interior look like an economy car's.
^ Wait... you think that Caddy hunk of **** looks better than the Benz? Wow.
Dude, before the 90s very few would have ever characterized or referred to anything coming from Cadillac as a hunk of ****
Get a grip.. They went thru some bad times after almost 70 years as the STANDARD. They hiccuped. So did Audi (especially in the 80-90s). Currently Lexus is in a funk. Mercedes is peddling $29,999 Top of the line Civic competitors that will come back to haunt their luxo credit soon, and BMW is no longer the "World's Ultimate Driving Machine," Cadillac actually beats them at that model per model.
As for the cars posted.. No one in their right mind thought that this:
So, you bought a C7 just to get attention? An old Caddy like that, in great condition is a classic. Anyone can go buy a C7 right now (assuming they can afford it)

Get used to it because its only going to get worse. They made an awful lot of stingrays
I am selling my old car to pay for a similarly colored Corvette.
1954 Hudson Hornet Hollywood. The big 308 Straight six full Hudson racing treatment and punched out to 353. At the local car show it is always a big draw.

Well to be fair you should have used a pic of the Benz with leather interior. Also, I wager that the wood in the Benz is actual wood, where the Caddy is just fake wood.
My all black C7 gets a lot of attention where ever I go but my bright red 1950 Ford Custom coupe gets twice the attention and from a whole range of age groups. The Ford is a duplicate of my first car in High School. Same colors except this one has 534 HP and my first one had 100 HP.
I love them both and drive the Ford everyday just to feel young again.

Sorry man. When I saw the Bentz of the 80's and 90's I thought "class" and "affluence" when I saw the Caddy's from the same period I thought "Grandpa" or "Superfly".
I agree Cadillac was the standard luxury automobiles for a number of years but in my opinion they floundered from the mid sixties into the 21st century. In my mind the CTS started the turnaround back in 2004.
Today I think they are producing cars on par with the European luxury/performance sedans but not when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's. Perception then was much different for me and most of my friends.

You're kidding right? Please tell me you're kidding.
