My BMW didn't have it, but the new M-series did. Somewhat hard to tell unless you knew what you were looking for, but no one I knew liked the idea of pumping artificial sound into the interior to make your car sound meatier than it was.
On the other hand, we all see this everyday as people try to make their car sound more powerful from the outside. Guess it's just the cabin version?
Not that I know of. If anything, I will be installing the fatmat behind the seats to make it even quieter inside. I want loud from outside. not inside lol
Does make one wonder. Buddy of mine brought his C7 in for oil change and a couple of minor issue, one of them being the turn signal wouldn't always make that clicking noise when used.
Dealer ordered a component that included a small speaker that produces that clicking noise we hear.
The base C7 has quite a throaty sound when floored (especially when rolling around 50 MPH). Enough so that is startled me the first time I heard it. I have no way of knowing if that same sound was audible to anyone standing outside the car, but it certainly put a grin on my face.
Heard about Ford including this feature in the Mustang. At least they weren't hiding the fact.
Begs to question whether loud exhausts, and blaring/thumping monster car stereos are more for impressing others than satisfying our own desire.
As a product trainer for BMW, ive been told their sound is pumped in to the m3 so they can increase the sound insulation while still letting you hear gear changes.
Don't shoot the messenger, even the guys I teach doubt that one.....
My experience has always been that nothing sounds as good as a Mustang.
Hmmm. You haven't heard the 8.2 Liter big block Chevy with long tube headers and 3 inch tail pipes going thru the straight thru Bola mufflers in my Steet Rod! Actually the air intake going into the 850 CFM Holley thru the 5 inch high 14 inch diameter K&N air cleaner makes a great sound as well at WOT!
I can tell you this without a doubt in the world, the sound you hear from the Corvette C7 is the sound the car makes from the engine, and that is true with the Camaro. I do wonder about the new Caddys though...but from the Chevrolet High Performance side, its all real, no piping in sound.
