Default Wait for '16?

When it was announced that the '16 Volt would get Apple's CarPlay, my brain went into overdrive. If the Volt gets it, surely the C7 would be getting it too, right? I'm a big Apple guy and that would be a huge factor for me.

Until the Volt announcement I was completely set on ordering a '15. Now I wonder if I should wait for the possible announcement of new features and options at the NCM Bash in April.

My original plan was to perfectly time it so that my '15 order came in just as my current lease ends in July. If I order a '16 I may not take delivery until October or even November. That would require me to rent a car for up to 4 months as the C7 will be my daily driver. If nothing new is announced at the NCM Bash I could just order a '15. The risk here is a price increase which will happen next month if it does at all.

What would you do?

If you're always waiting for the next best thing, you'll always be waiting.

The Volt has to stacking up as who wants one with 2.00 gas?

Second thought is why would that be better than the Bluetooth that they use now?

Wait and research or buy and drive.

Like you I got very excited. I actually have a volt as my daily driver and will be getting a '17 volt (I lease them). I'm a big android guy so it was good news to me. I'm pretty confident 16 c7 will have it, but I don't want to wait another year for it... so I'll have to deal w my vette not having it.

For the curious ones, it will allow you to sync your phone in another level. Like you can use Google maps and waze etc.

So you can have an advanced self updating map for free on your screen instead of opting for their quick to be outdated maps...

I also think 16 or 17 will have increased hp... might even have bigger discounts. if I keep waiting I'll never have the damn car though lol...

Buy the '15 and be happy. Or wait 8 months to see what '16 will bring to the table

Just to address the always waiting mentality; I'm not in that camp. I'm considering waiting for one specific reason that I feel is a very significant upgrade. Were it not for this my '15 order would already be placed.

and I hear the '17s will have ........

You're gonna be pissed if it doesn't come out. Always something new coming out next year. Don't get the car for the Apple compatibility, get the car for the love of spirited driving.

I'm not sure what Apple CarPlay is all about but it seems strange that GM would tailor a vehicle's entertainment system just to Apple users. In any case, if that's the only 2016 improvement, I'm glad I got a 2015!

I know people who bought 07's were pissed when the LS3 came out in 08. I had an 08 and would have loved to have a wide body GS but I do not regret buying my 08. Now when the C7 came out, all bets were off.

I typically don't like buying the first year of a new model. Mostly because I want them to work out any potential bugs but also because with the C7 dealers were selling well above MSRP initially. I could never pay over MSRP no matter how much I wanted a car. Just not wired that way

I didn't wait, purchased a 2014 convertible. Enjoy today, the future is unknown. I am thinking 2017 (engine upgrade, more/better electronics?).

Then I think you already answered your own question. None of us can change that for you. And nobody knows anything about apple carplay, mirrorlink or android Auto on here... I've asked

Wait til the Bash. If you place your order and find out the '16 gets CarPlay, you will regret purchasing the car.

The CarPlay will be a serious improvement to the on screen controls, especially if you have an iPhone. It will probably also allow the downloading of apps on the C7.

I'd bet anything that at some point the PDR gets a better 1080p camera. What footage I've seen looks rough given cameras of similar size.

Since you've waited this long, wait for the 16. Many of us are waiting for a 2016, for various reasons( I'm waiting for a 16 Z06 A8). Join the club, it's not that far away. The bash at the end of april will have what's new on the 16. You'll be pissed if items you want are available on the 16 and you have already bought a 2015.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and advice. If the Bash reveals new items that I view as must haves, I've decided to extend my current car lease and wait for the '16. If not then I'll just order a '15.

With that in mind, can anyone see any issues with this scenario:

Put a deposit down now on a 15 to avoid any possible price increase. Then cancel that order if the Bash reveals details that make me want to wait for the '16? Seems logical if the deposit can be refunded, other than that I can't see why I wouldn't do this.

If your brain went into overdrive over that..your head would explode over a Stingray with Bluetooth.

Not positive, but I believe the order has to pass a certain level of progress before the price is locked. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.

If CarPlay is that important for you then wait.

Personally this is the first car where the only soundtrack I care about is under the hood and exhaust. My eyes are focused on the fast approaching white lines.

New experience for me honestly as I'm a techie and love new gadgets and ***** to play with but in this car the driving experience rules all.

Good luck and hope you get what you want. As that is all that matters in the end.
