Default Stinger Removal

I see folks adding stingers all over the place, but has anyone tried to remove the factory supplied stinger? I was told by the dealer that they remove decals all the time on other model cars ... I'm hopeful that with some patience and perhaps a heat-gun the stinger would come off with no damage to the paint.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

And adhesive vinyl comes off with heat or an adhesive remover . The paint will be fine.

The factory stinger is just a piece of vinyl applied AFTER the car is built and the paint is cured. No big deal; just be careful...

I've taken it off mine. You'll be fine. Just be patient with the process.

Why would you want to take it off? Do you not like it?

Fair question, actually I'm about to pull the trigger on a car that's in stock at a dealer, and yes, I'm not a fan of the stinger. So rather than ordering the exactly car less the stinger, I was interested in just removing it and getting the car ASAP!

I already removed the Corvette lettering, the Stingray logo comes next... and finally, swap out the stock Corvette logos for the Z06 blacked out ones.

I'm old school, to be sure. I like the name Stingray and the little fish as some call it. I have always wanted a Stingray since the C2, its a classic... the name as well as the C2. I've had a C4 for 15 years and its NOT a Stingray. I've had many people refer to it as a Stingray but of course that's wrong. Now I have a Stingray. I'm a happy boy. I personally don't understand why someone would buy a Corvette Stingray and take the names and fish off of it. But that's just me. I'm not above modifying my Stingray, though, and see nothing wrong with someone else modifying theirs by removing this or that including the badges. Enjoy your Stingray, with or without the fish and badges. Its a great car!

You do realize the stinger is a $500 option...

when you get the car tinted, they can pull off the stinger if you want for $20 or so...
