Default Engine ticking

I have brought my car back twice to the dealer for this excessive ticking noise from the engine. It's almost like the water torture. You can hear the tick through the entire range of rpm. They brush it off and say this is the way the car was designed. I can't believe General Motors would allow this design flaw. What do I do?

Hopefully you have a service order for this complaint and not just a verbal response from them. If you have paperwork to substantiate your problem just continue to drive the car. If and when you have a problem you are covered.

You may not like the answer but it's the way all the gen5 engines sound. It's a byproduct of the Direct Injection.

If that tick can be traced to a individual cylinder you most likely have a bad dod lifter. If the tick is all the cylinders then you are hearing the direct injection
