Default Corvette Mod's Mirror Tap

Has anyone used their mirror tap for their escort? I just received one today and spent hours trying to get it to work. I tried tapping the purple and black wires and didn't get any power to my detector.

Should work.

Test your mirror tap cable by getting known 12 volts to the pins and see if it works.

Agree, ignition was switched on when you tested it?
Correct polarity (black ground, purple +12V)?
Did you push the pins in on the car side the connector (not the mirror side)? The purple wire does not connect through the connector to the mirror side of the connector.
If it's like the original MirrorTap, sometimes the pins are a tight fit & need to be pushed in deeper. Use something like a micro screwdriver to "wallow" out the hole.
Hope this helps.

Weren't there issues with the mirror tap not working on the C7?

If this now works I want one yesterday...

Yes. I had power switched on and it was pushed into the car side of the connector too. The Corvette Mod cable doesn't have the positive and negative taps color coded so I have tried swapping them and still no power. I'll have to pull out the voltmeter next I guess.

Thanks,
Dan

worked fine for me. As other have said, it is switched power, car must be running. I used a mirror tap from blendmount, but should be the same thing as what you have.

I thought that the line was hot with just accessory power, not car running. I'll try it out with the car running.

Thanks,
Dan

It should come on when you start your car. I put the blendmount Mirror tap in about two months ago. It actually was alot easier than I though it would be. I did use a small pick to push the wires over so I could get the little post to seat all the way down. My only mistake was not using loctite on the mounting screw for the Bracket. On the wat home from Vegas yesterday it fell off. Needless to say I went without it for the ride home.

Are these being done on 15 or 14 Stingrays? I thought you could not tap the 14 mirror, but you can the 15.

You can tap into the mirror in both the 14 and 15. Take a look at this thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-2015-c7.html

Thanks for the tip on the car running. Got it all working today.
