I ordered a new C7 two weeks ago. Should I have an order number from the dealer. What is the normal procedure once you order. This may sound like a nieve question. Thanks for your input. He said he will tell me once they pull the order at the factory.
Get your finances in order.
Mine showed up 3 weeks early and I had to wait five days to pick it up, because I had to wait on a check to arrive by mail from selling some bonds.
Yes, you should definitely have an order number. The order number is generated as soon as the dealer puts it in the computer. Now, that doesn't mean GM accepted the order yet. You aren't guaranteed a car until the order hits 2000 status (gm accepts the order)
For smaller dealers orders may take months to get accepted. My order wasn't accepted until 2 1/2 months after order was placed.
The computer generates an order number as soon as the dealer enters it and the computer accepts it as valid.
Some have said that "some" dealers don't enter an order until they have an allocation for it. But most dealers enter as soon as they get the deposit.
Keep after your dealer for an order number and preferably a copy of the Workbench printout. Check and make sure the dealer entered the order with everything you want. Mistakes happen.
Does your dealer have allocations? Have you asked?
First thing I got was a copy of the workbench order placed by the dealer, then the dealer got the deposit. It will show 1100, order placed. Next is 2000, order picked up by GM. Then comes 2500, 3000, 3300, where you get a TPW, 3400 order broadcast, it's getting built, 3800 production complete. Sometimes things go pretty fast, as noted by sdk.
Got my order number the day I orderd. They got the allocation 8 weeks afterwards. At TPW of 3-2-15 and about to burst. Still riding the high of moving off 1100.
