it's true. you can't add Z51 once you hit 2000.

yep, I included the Z51 package with mag ride control. Since it comes with the performance exhaust, the difference wasn't that much!

 

I called the dealer and they said that was true for the Z06 but not the Z51. I added it to my options.

 

Actually, other than being only available with the Z51 package, the MRC Package is of more value on the street than the track. Most tracks a relatively smooth, and don't get nearly the benefit from the MRC shocks that a driver on the average poorly maintained public street will get. If I could have gotten the MRC suspension on the base car, my wife's C7 vert would have it. My '13 C6 has it, and my incoming Z06 has it.


Good luck with that. Experience by Forum members over the last year and a half says, unless your dealer has an allocation allowing the Z51 package when GM accepts the order, you're not going to be able to add it after status 2000, "Order accepted by GM." If your still at status 1100, "Order entered by dealer," then you can add it. Your dealer will still need an allocation allowing the Z51 option, only one out of 2 orders, to get it accepted.

 

Your dealer is lying to you - there is no such thing Z06/Z51

 

I know there is no Z06/Z51. What I meant was, the limit is on ordering the Z06. They are limiting how many Z06s are ordered. They are not limiting how many of the regular corvettes can have the Z51 packages included. If you have a specific link that you could forward me that sys that, I would appreciate it.

 

Link to the constraint report for 29 Jan. there were no Vette allocations on 5 Feb. 50% limit on Z51. Of course this assumes you trust our forum at least as much as your dealer.

What is the "Pacific Design Package" and the "Unique Aero Package"?

 

I went for the Z51 option because I believe it is a LOT of stuff for the bucks spent. Bigger front brakes. Slotted rotors. The mag ride is not standard; it is an option (FE4). The rear vents are functional cooling the the differential and transmission. The differential is electronic slip. The tires are different than the base, not just in size. They are designed to be grippier (which means less grippy in colder temps). There is more engine cooling. Dry sump oil handling. The performance exhaust (throatier growl). Beefier sway bar, stabilizers and shocks. Different gear ratios. Aero package for better stability.

I have no plan to track the car. I just wanted the performance headroom.

 

There are two different special packages--the Pacific and Atlantic. It takes some looking to find them, but they come with different options packages, including one with side skirts and splitter. I didn't know you could order them yet.

I wouldn't say your dealer is lying to you, but he may be not telling you all the details. I'd learn how the process works from the board, then go ask your dealer a lot of questions so you have the right scoop.

I think the prior post stating the Pacific or Atlantic is part of the Z51 package is incorrect.

 

I believe it's just the rear spoiler.

 

 

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Chevrolet announced today the 2015 Corvette Stingray will be available in two new Design Packages: the Atlantic luxury convertible and the Pacific performance coupe. They go on sale later this year with the rest of the 2015 Corvette Stingray lineup.

The Corvette Stingray Atlantic convertible and Corvette Stingray Pacific coupe concepts were introduced last fall at the SEMA Show. A strong response from enthusiasts helped influence production. They are the latest Chevrolet concepts from SEMA that made concept to reality. Several Camaros, such as the Hot Wheels edition, and the Sonic Dusk are now in production.

“We plan to make news with the Corvette Stingray every year, in part by offering special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experience,” said Todd Christensen, Corvette marketing manager. “Our customers have told us they appreciate these limited-edition models, which have become an important part of the Corvette’s legacy.”

Luxury GT-focused Atlantic Convertible

The 2015 Corvette Stingray Atlantic Design Package is inspired by the luxury and performance of private jets seen at European vacation destinations. Offered exclusively on Z51-equipped convertibles, it is available in 2LT or 3LT trims, with the following unique features and content:

Front Z06-style splitter
Shark Gray exterior vents, hood “stinger” graphic and tonneau inserts
Chrome Torque wheels with Stingray center caps
Stingray underhood liner and floor mats
Custom splash guards, rear license plate frame and logo valve stem caps

With included software, users can analyze their laps to improve their driving and lap times. The system includes a high-definition camera integrated into the interior’s rearview mirror assembly.

The new paddle-shift eight-speed is designed to deliver world-class shift times that rival the best dual-clutch designs, and is expected to contribute up to 5-percent greater efficiency, when compared to the previous six-speed automatic. EPA estimates are pending.
