Default Road Trip Advice?

Hey there,

I've just planned a large roadtrip this summer from:

Salt Lake City >> Seattle >> Portland >> San Francisco >> Newport Beach >> Las Vegas >> Salt Lake City

I'm going to get some mods going on the car like Xpel and side skirts, but what about car maintenance? I'm not a current AAA member, should I look into that? What gives you peace of mind that you'll have some sort of incident plan in case of road trouble?

From San Francisco to Newport Beach, make sure you take Highway 1.

If the car is under warranty don't worry about the AAA. GM will provide tow services to the closest dealership.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Bring jacking pads, tow hook and asprin.

I've driven across the US 13 times, and it's not that big a deal. You're not even going all that far.

Whether you are using RFs or not, make sure you have a plug kit, and a compressor. I have concluded you also need a can of slime (I haven't had it or needed it, but you never know). The jacking pucks are something that should always be kept in the car, even if you are only going to the corner grocery.

As far as maintenance is concerned, I doubt you have enough miles to worry about that, yet. Just make sure your oil is changed prior to the trip. Or schedule it to be changed on the trip.

Good advice so far, thanks. It'll probably be fine, but I'm just a little cautious when moving out of the 50 mile home radius.

Best spare part to bring is a credit card.

Don't go off and get lost on any back roads in the desert. If you do, bring water. Let somebody know when you plan to arrive and check in.
