Blade Silver Metalic Owners
BSM owners, I have question for you and hope you can help me out. There has been a lot of conversation on this forum and others about BSM paint "mottling" (I hope I have the term right). I'm getting ready in the next day or so to order my C7, and have been leaning towards BSM for the body color. My question is this - Please respond with your opinion about your car. Is it:
A. Perfect Paint, I love it
B. Some mottling, but I can live with it
C. Noticeably bad mottling, and needs to be repainted to fix
I'm trying to ascertain the magnitude of the "problem" and determine if I should go with an alternate color. Thanks in advance.

B - My 14 has some but so did my 12. Honestly, you have to have the right lighting, angle and distance for it to be really noticeable on mine. I would not have changed my personal decision over it but some cars may have it worse than others.

BSM Paint-Not the greatest !!!!
I almost went with Blade Silver, but after seeing one in the sun, I went with Shark Gray.....The older silver Machine Silver had no mottling......I don't like the color, it's has no warmth to it, and looks "cheap" IMHO......

I for one do not think a silver C7 looks cheap. It certainly doesn't look cheap on a Mercedes or a Rolls Royce, and not on a Corvette.
A silver C7 shows off its contours and badging (I recommend option code EYT) in good contrast, and hides dirt well. No regrets at all:

If I had to choose, I’d choose choice B but to do so, I think I’d have to be very picky. The car is gorgeous in my opinion.
It’s a production item, expecting perfection in every respect is, I’d say, a bit unreasonable. Don

I have a MY14 Blade Silver car with VIN in the 9460. The mottling is very noticeable during sunset when in theory, most cars should look their best. The effect is noticeable on the rear quarter panels and the doors. I cannot see it on the rear hatch or anywhere on the forward clip.
I spoke with my dealer's collision center manager and they said that GM knows about this and he has personally repainted several other GM cars (not Corvette) because of this issue. The standpoint that GM is taking is that it has to be worse than what they have previously seen (which is subjective). My car was denied warranty repair.
I am deciding to repaint the car at my cost or just sucking it up and trading it in for the new CTS-V when it comes out (most likely the latter).

The Corvette is a very good car and the C7 is significantly better than previous generations. I fully expected that buying a Chevrolet would entail some patience and it has. I have more important things to fret over at the moment. It is just a car.

Silver is a terrific color for a vette-however it becomes a miserable color when repaints are involved.

B - Highly dependent on lighting and angle.

A-. I am pleased with the condition of the paint but I do in some light conditions see a little of this molting thing. Much better than a dark colored car that shows every scratch and dust dirt even with in an hour of washing. Could not live with that. IMH $.02 worth.
