There are a lot of threads on this with a lot of pictures--most seem to prefer the Z06 grille. It's inexpensive and easy to do. The aftermarket grilles seem very expensive when compared to the stock Z06 grill.
Keep in mind that the Z06 grille has larger openings and will let more trash through to the radiator, with no easy way to clean it...
I see no reason to change grilles just to be changing something...
Additions, like the Z06 front splitter, do complete the front end.
Now, the clear Z06 tail lights are a different story...they look hideous. If I had a Z06, I would probably change back to the stock red tail lights.
I bought a Z06 splitter because I think it looks more aggressive than the stingray version. That's not to say it doesn't look good..it does, but the Z06 grill looks better IMO. I also agree that more debris (leaves in the fall) may collect behind the grill, but since I don't have Z51 air inlets I can get a vacuum hose in there and suck out the debris.

Agreed Ernest. I really like the ACS grill from a style perspective but for the price of the Z06 grill, I like it just fine. I wasn't a fan of the base grill making the Z06 grill ("poser" or not) a good option for me.
Who cares what anyone thinks about YOUR car. Last thing I want/need is anyone's approval of what I do to MY car. I added the Z06 grille at first offering because the standard Stingray grille is just, IMO, ugly. Covering the "retainer" with some tape was not even an option for me. I wanted the ACS grille, but their asking price made me run and run fast. I'm not entering any car shows. I bought it to be driven and enjoyed by me and not to impress the masses.
Enjoy your car and do what you feel is fit with it; to mod or not to mod.
I think they look nice but at a car show one of the judges labeled a Stingray with one as a Z06 poser. I'll just cover my unsightly chrome retainer.
I too think the chrome "retainer" is hideous on an otherwise outstanding looking car- There are several ways to cover it (paint, tape, other things), but I was recently at an independent Corvette shop and was told by the owner that some manufacturer is making completely new "retainers" in carbon flash or black to match the grill. He did not know who is doing this- does anyone?? I sure would be interested in knowing - have been told that painting the retainer does not work very well.

I wrapped mine with carbon flash vinyl and have seen pictures of retainers painted with PlastiCoat with good results. I haven't tried but swapping the retainer looks like a big job. I think the front cover would have to be removed just as you would to replace the grill.
