Default Recall

I received one reply to my post and then someone closed it. I was aware of the thread that a forum member brought to my attention via a reply, but it did not answer my question. Why would it take 11 hours to perform this task and is it necessary? Thanks.

FUEL FILL PIPE ANTI-SIPHON GRID OUT OF POSITION

Was at the dealer having my second oil change and first year check and was told that my 2014 Z51 was subjected to the above recall. I also was told that it would take 11 hours to repair once they received the part(s), which have been ordered. Has any one had this repair done and is it absolutely necessary ? I'm just thinking - 11 hours sounds like a dismantling of the car and I'm not to fond of that. Comments?

It does not take 11 hours. The fender liner comes out, the fuel door comes off and the filler pipe is replaced.

If you read through the other posts, it should only take this long if the grid has fallen into the fuel tank, and the tank has to be removed. If they just have to replace the fuel filler tube, I think they can do that through the wheel well and not remove the tank. First thing I would do is look down into the filler tube and see if the metal grid is still in place a few inches below the end of the tube.

Thank you. I was told by the service advisor that it would take 11 hours so I guess the grid fell into the tank, although I was not told that.

The thread that was posted in your other thread did answer this question if you had taken the time to read it.

The "someone" who closed it was me. I'm also closing this thread because we don't need multiple threads on the same topic.
