I posted this in the "Autocrossing and Roadracing" section and got some good info. But I thought I'd post it here since I didn't seem to get any C7 experiences. Thanks:
I am interested in getting a trailer for my C7, but an enclosed trailer is probably too much for my van tow vehicle. To stay within recommended 80% of max recommended weight of trailer and car, I need the trailer to not be much over 1500 lbs. That limits me to an open trailer I think. I've looked on the web at Trailex, Featherlite and Aluma (also Kwik-load). Does anyone have real-life experiences to share with a C7 on one of these? I'd like to get the shortest trailer that works. There are some 16' bed tilt trailers, but shorter means a greater angle when loading, so I'm hoping to hear from people who have tried this. Also, I'd love to know experience with stone guards in the front. Do they do the job, or are open sides still a road damage issue. Finally, I know you generally can't cover a car on an open trailer (paint damage) but there are a few people and companies that have done soft rubber/canvas covers over a frame. Any experience there? Thanks, so much!!!
Could you PM me that info, also. Looking to pull one of our C7s behind a motor home.
I had a somewhat custom trailer made by Sure-Trac.
18 ft all steel construction, 30 inch rock guard, 5000 lb axels, removable fenders for earlier loading and unloading, led lights, dove tail, and radial tires. It pulls just about like a boat with my Silverado 1500 4X4. I chose an open trailer as it would be easier to tow with less wind resistance than an enclosed trailer. I can choose my travel days so weather is not an issue. I trailered my C7 from KY to Fl with no issues.

Close up of the trailer. A word of caution, trailers vary tremendously in price. If you get the cheapest it will have the cheapest axles, tires and stability.

Can you discuss how/where you strapped the car to the trailer? Did you use hooks in the frame slots or straps around the axels or through wheels?

Look close at the picture and you can see the straps thru the wheels. They now make straps especially for this. The front ones are crisscrossed but not the back. My straps were not long enough to cross for the rear. The car never moved.when loading or unloading I always try to find an area with an incline such as my basement driveway (shown in the picture). This will assist in reducing the angle for loading.
Tilt trailers at 20' are even hard to drive up onto, front of car scrapes. Open trailers with longer ramps work, as well as enclosed with ramp door and beaver tail. I've been selling trailers for 20 years and have hauled a couple of my vettes long distances. Dave
