Some of you know I was having problems with NAV. it would not load. After a few hrs. of trying everything from reboot to calling GM they decided I need a new screen. Said it would take about 3 day to get and 2-3 hrs. to install. Since mine is a 2014 do you think I will get another 14 screen or an updated 15 model? I should have asked
There is some kind of updates to the system. I read that information here on the forum. But I see my question has been answered with a 14 model. I just hope they do whatever needs to be done with the memory seats because I have the 7m.
My wife asked a good question. Does no one check when the car comes off the line or dealer ship to see if all things work. I would think so.
New screen was supplied starting last February 14 or so… There's a bulletin on it somewhere… The color coding of the wires and the connector at the bottom seems to be a bit different so Some early cars were requiring the screen to be replaced, like mine. My vin is '14 #3602
Well, the question is are they just replacing the screen? If it is only the screen, then there is no functionality difference (it's just a screen). If they are replacing the entire head unit, then the question might make sense). Still, you'd get a 2014 part.

They are replacing the whole thing. My terminology on this stuff is not the best. But your right he did say a new unit. I thought one was the same as the other. My mistake.
Probably nothing wrong with the screen itself. But if they wanna toss another one in there.
Is there even a "head unit" in these? I plan on adding factory nav to my car once I get it, and the part for that is what they call the "IO6" module. A box about the size of a paperback book that mounts to the left of your left foot near the hood release. If the nav is cheesing out, this is probably the thing they should replace, not the actual screen.

I will update in a few days when they get whatever part their getting. I don't know one part from another but I can read and ask them questions like is it the head unit or the IO6 module. I'll make it sound like I know what I'm talking about because I have trouble just turning this computer on. Thanks

This is a vid that shows how to update it if you don't have factory nav.
If you do have nav, it shows the gadget in the car that they will probably be replacing:
