I read where someone said GM stopped mailing recall notices. Curious, because I just got one today for my wife's 2016 for the software update for seat belts and airbags and that prompted me to look at the date of this thread.

This is funny, because I have known about the airbag recall for quite awhile, due to the good folks in this forum, but didn't receive a letter.
Today, I had an oil change and the recall done today.

There are different levels of recalls. For some, GM may choose to notify owners by mail or not. For others the Gov't may not give them a choice, the mail notification and tracking of cars corrected may be part of the agreement reached between GM and the government agency. It all depends on the potential for injury and severity of injury.

Never received a recall notice for the airbags. Found out about it here on the forum.

I did receive the airbag reprogramming recall notice in the mail on Monday. I had it done this past Friday along w/ a dry sump Mobil 1 oil change. I was in and out in 90 minutes, while I waited.
Also FYI, the airbag reflash did not change any of my settings.

Those who have seen changes in settings are usually talking about radio presets and such, but if you are concerned, do the recall before the tune.
