I read where someone said GM stopped mailing recall notices. Curious, because I just got one today for my wife's 2016 for the software update for seat belts and airbags and that prompted me to look at the date of this thread.
There are different levels of recalls. For some, GM may choose to notify owners by mail or not. For others the Gov't may not give them a choice, the mail notification and tracking of cars corrected may be part of the agreement reached between GM and the government agency. It all depends on the potential for injury and severity of injury.
I found out about the airbag recall in my monthly OnStar report. GM dated the recall September 8, 2016 and I got the recall October 16th!! Why the delay??
I also received my airbag notice on Monday regarding my 14 coupe. There doesn't seem to be any order to the mail outs, entirely random. The process took 90 minutes to complete.
I took my 14 vert in last week for a oil change and they did the recall at the same time. I never did get the recall notice in the mail. 33K miles and still going strong. Tom

GM is testing you ...................... They want to see if you are utilizing the OnStar reports.

Took my Year old 2014 in for 5000 mile service. Learned that there were two recall issues (minor) of which I had no notice. Is there a way to get GM to send notices to me, directly - rather than rely on the Dealer? Thanks. John
Did you check your monthly ONSTAR notice ???? I don't have the navigation part of ONSTAR so my monthly payment is only $ 24.99 ( safe and sound program ) !!!! Wayne
How long did it take to do the fix? Did it take a couple of hours or did you have to leave it with them all day?
I was in and out in an hour when they did the airbag recall; this included an oil change in that time frame. I thought it would take longer, so I was pleasantly surprised!
I did receive the airbag reprogramming recall notice in the mail on Monday. I had it done this past Friday along w/ a dry sump Mobil 1 oil change. I was in and out in 90 minutes, while I waited.
Also FYI, the airbag reflash did not change any of my settings.

So the airbag refresh will not affect any other part of the tune? I'm going to have a super charger/tune done soon and just want to make sure the GM refresh won't affect that aftermarket tune?

Those who have seen changes in settings are usually talking about radio presets and such, but if you are concerned, do the recall before the tune.
