Is it ok to use the XPEL on the headlights? As I had a clear film on my C6 headlights and it caused these spider cracks in the plastic headlight lens and supposedly the film created extra heat when the lights were on which caused them to crack.
Anyone have the film on their car for a decent amount of time with any issues?

I've read about this problem on other car forums, too. Personally, I don't think I would use it, especially on HID headlights.
Same here. Have had it on my '15 for just six months with no problems. More significantly, I had it on my '05 for the entire nine years that I owned the car; when I traded it in the headlights looked brand new.

I had my entire C7 covered in XPEL Ultimate except the headlights. My XPEL installer recommended I not have them covered because he has seen XPEL actually delaminate the headlight plastic on other car brands (Porsche, etc), so he no longer covers headlights.
If I take a stone to the headlights, I'll put in an insurance claim.

Exactly what my Xpel installer said when I asked him about it.
Installed since March 14 with 12K miles. No issues. Had entire car done except rear bumper and hatch area. Only regret is not finding something for the windshield to help with all the pitting by road rash. Front bumper cover and hood look like Day 1, windshield not so much. Don't forget your A pillars. I could see any nicks from rocks showing up well on that surface.

Thanks for mentioning that. My installer didn't mention this in the quote.

That's great the word is getting around about this. In the case of my XPEL installer (who was factory trained) his experience involved applying XPEL Ultimate to the headlights of a new 911. After he was finishing up the car he noticed some small debris had gotten caught between the XPEL and the highlight plastic so he lifted the XPEL to correct the issue. When he did the XPEL delaminated the headlight plastic. He ended up having to buy the 911 owner a new headlight assembly. So obviously he doesn't want to take that chance covering headlights again. GM headlight assemblies might use a different type of plastic, who knows, but I didn't want to take the chance.
