I finally took my car in to have the flickering infotainment screen replaced. I got a call from the dealer and was told the screen was replaced but the up/down button didn't work.
Does anyone know if the replacement screen is just the screen, or does it include the button and/or motor to raise/lower the screen?
I'm trying to determine whether the replacement part was bad or if the dealer broke something else.
Not trying to be a smartazz but isn't this the dealers problem? Why are you trying to do their job? You know they most likely won't listen anyway.
My advice, let them sort out what they did. That is why you have a warranty.
Good luck!
I'm not trying to do their job at all, and I agree 100% it's the dealers problem. They gave me a loaner to run around in for as long as necessary and I'm perfectly content with that killer Malibu. I'm just curious to know what actually gets replaced for this fix. They've already ordered a 2nd replacement for me.
Type A personality, I always need to know what is going on... everywhere... all. the. time.
Like pittperson, I too would want to know more about the problem and what the dealer did to break and later fix it. Yes, let the dealer fix it, but explain to me what was done.
Is the car a manual? Tell them to take the car out of reverse and try it. Not being a smart ***, just saying they may not know and it may be the problem.

Hah, I didn't even think about that. I wonder if they are still in the "put it in reverse or the battery drains" mindset.

It took me a couple of times of "the screen doesn't go down" to figure out why. I'd put my wallet in there then back into a parking spot (always back in) and my wallet was captive!.

You missed lunch! I hate when I can't pay, wash dishes next time.
Screen goes back up if down in reverse, also the screen flicker problem is the screen and connector, nothing to do with the button ( or that's another prob)....mine replaced at 10000 miles. Connector was new type. I'm not taking anymore chances, I use the up down very sparingly.

I got my dealer to order the new screen last week, when it arrives I will also get them to do an oil change. I sure as hell hope it goes smoothly, I don't trust those techs for anything other than an oil change and even that is iffy.

I got my car back on Friday, everything works like a charm.
