Oddly enough, I owned a 2007 and never gave it a second thought. One thing we already know about the 2016 is the warrantee will be reduced from 100K miles to 60K miles and the maintenance plan will be cut in half.
Yes, they will have an engine! Most likely the same LT1 that has been in it the past 2 seasons. Lots of money went into developing this engine to meet CAFE regulations and I don't believe there will be any notable HP or TQ increases.
But with ordering coming up soon we should know in a couple of weeks.
The Chevy accountants have demanded a 200HP V6 as standard in the Stingray so there would be NO price increase. The 6.2 V8 will still be available now but only as an $8000.00 option. The standard hard top will be available but on 0% constraint the whole model year forcing you to buy the more expensive tops You don't really want once again. Thank you for buying Chevrolet!

If Artic's tongue in cheek remark proves to be true wouldn't tht be a hoot!!!!!!
Heck, Cadillac is comig out with a twin turbo 400hp V6 so maybe it could be a V-6!!!!
My guess is that model year 2017 will incorporate a "refresh" of the C7, which will include a small HP and torque increase and maybe a few minor design changes or option choices. The C6 did it and many companies do a refresh in the middle of a model run to kind of reinvigorate the current model from getting old in the tooth.

I heard that they can cut the maintenance plan in half because they cut the engine in half and are going to a 4 cylinder engine. I read it on the Internet so it must be true.
The new Camaro's getting the LT-1 so maybe there will be a bump in HP.
Beat me to it.
Perhaps the Performance Exhaust will be standard thus at least squeezing another 5 Horsepower over the Camaro. Problem is from what I've read the Camaro will have a performance exhaust option, but at least Camaro people will have to pay, where as C7 won't.
There's got to be a couple more horses to squeeze out. Add a cold air induction, that would probably do it.
Any rumors on what the 2016's will have? I remember the 2007 LS2 guys disappointed they didnt wait until 2008 for the LS3.
Actually, the first year C6(2005) had the LS2, so it was three years before the C6 received the LS3.
Other than the specular five HP boost the LS1 received, it ran for the entire eight year run of the C5.
C6 Z06 ran with the same horsepower(505) for it's eight year run, and the C6 ZR1 ran with the same horsepower(638) for it's five year run.
Other than the thirty HP bump on the base C6 and the five HP bump on the base C5 and twenty HP bump on the C5 Z06, there is not a history of GM increasing the Corvette's horsepower mid cycle in the past nineteen years.
Costs a lot of money when they make changes to the engine to get it SAE certified and EPA certified(gas mileage and emissions).

).
You quoted the history increasing the Corvette's horsepower in the past 19 yrs-30 hp on the C6 and 5 hp on the C5. How could you say there is not a history of GM increasing the HP mid cycle over the last 19 yrs?

the Performance Exhaust is already an Option on the Camaro, has been available for a year.
