Does PDR record the sounds from the engine or is the video just silent? I believe GM had to update the software to eliminate sound recording inside the cabin for privacy lawsuits but did this effect it recording engine noises too?

My 2015 records anything that can be heard in the cabin - radio, voices, exhaust, road noise. The microphone for the PDR is thought to be in the mirror, integrated into the camera. I believe the update turns off the audio when the car is in Valet Mode only. Mine (built 11/17/14) has not had the update as of yet as I can still hear the audio in valet mode.

Mine is recording audio as well. I thought from what I read prior to delivery that they had killed the mic completely. I will have to test in Valet mode and see if it records audio. I do not plan to use Valet mode much but I like the audio feed being there.
