My DD is a bicycle the majority of the year. 6 miles each way to work - it's perfect. My Vette is driven only in pristine weather. I've had it 15 months and just turned 1200 miles. Couldn't be happier. Car is still perfect and will likely stay that way. I enjoy owning it immensely.

Confession - I find the threads that profess "the best way to own and use a Corvette" annoying. Everybody's different with different goals and aspirations in life. Be happy you have the opportunity to enjoy life to this level.

I agree. To each their own.

I have a proper winter car, so for me, it's more comfortable to drive the other car in the winter, in snow, freezing rain, etc than the C7. For instance, I can go through car washes where the left wheels go inside guiding rails whereas I am hesitant to do so with the C7 (the rail may damage C7's wide rims), and there aren't too many rail-less car washes around here.

Salt causes rust and aluminum frames do rust as well.

Also, I'd rather not park the C7 in areas that may subject it to vandalism, door dings, etc, so it helps having a 2nd DD.

Unless I have to drive in snow/salt/freezing rain or park in questionable areas, the C7 is my DD and I look for excuses to drive it... "what's that honey, we need milk? ok I will get it" ... 43 miles later, and oh *** I have to get milk still

Try explaining why you are going for a drive in the C7 when you just went out to put the garbage out

I don't use mine as a DD but I can tell you that every time I get behind the wheel this huge smile comes across my face.

But to those that do DD their Vettes, congrats and enjoy the heck out of them too.

1200 miles in 15 months - sorry, man, can't resist:

I put 1,000 miles a month on a Ferrari and 1,000 miles a month on my current Corvette (C7).... no one on his death bed ever said, "Wish I'd driven the Corvette or _____ less."

I hear you - but again, I ride a bicycle quite a bit - 10,000 miles annually. I hope to stay off my death bed for quite some time - AND - I have no problem fitting in the C7 seats

My wife and I have 2 other vehicles so my Vette does not need to be a DD. It typically gets driven on the weekends and never in the winter. To me I think my routine makes my drive times just that much more special. I actually walk to work every day. So even my "DD" does not really get driven daily.

I've been on the forum a couple years now and I think we see a broad spectrum of how we all use our C7's differently. I think you will agree that some guys/gals say; drive the snot out of it, please don't put ashes on the floor, and just throw the empty's in the back. Others really enjoy waxing and keeping a beautiful car pristine. To each his/her own and myself, I'm kind of in the middle. I drive it as often as I can, keep it clean and always maintained and am thrilled every time I get to drop the hammer and let the beast out of the box.

My original point was that you cannot really appreciate this car unless you drive it daily. I too have other cars that I could drive but choose to drive the Corvette because of what a great car it is and the more I drive it the more I appreciate it.
As to enjoyment of Sunday morning cars, I can think of a number of cars that I have owned that certainly brought smiles to my face on a nice Sunday morning drive but that I would NEVER drive on a daily basis. to wit Superformance Corbra 427, Lotus 7 to name a couple.

This is number 10 for me. All of them have been DD, most end up with about 65-70,000 on them when I sell them. The C7 is just in another league. I couldn't stay out of it if I wanted to.
I keep it clean, waxed and such but don't freak when it gets dirty Well, not to much, anyway.
This car makes going to work fun...I just hate getting there now.
There are hundreds of thousands of Corvette owners around the world and each brings a different plate to the table. From garage queens to daily drivers...but that is what is cool about sports cars. Ya' don't see many Crown Vics treated this way.

I have driven Corvettes since 1975. They have never been my only car but they get driven more than anything else I have owned. When you leave the house in the morning and have the choice between taking the Corvette or the Suburban what do you drive ? 9 times out of 10 I pick the Corvette.

I have a 2008 ZO6 with 80,000 miles on the odometer and my wife has a 2014 C7 Z51 convertible with 16,000.

We drive our cars !

Ok, Let me guess.. this is your first Corvette? This will be my 4th over a span of many years.

I can appreciate my Corvettes, for example driving highway one in California several time, ever tried that? How about the Tail of the Dragon or the the Blue Ridge Parkway? How about Scenic 6 in Arkansas? how about the beautiful roads around Bowling Green. How about Oregon and Lake tahoe?

Well, hopefully you get the idea..the drive on I35W on the way to work at 20 MPH in traffic does not thrill me.

Will be my first vette, will be my DD as I dont have space or money for two personal cars.

I will be sharing some duties with my 2013 GSXR 600 but that is most certainly not a vehicle I will take everywhere all the time.

My vette will get used good n plenty!

I find them annoying too. My C6 was 10 years old and it had 38k miles. My C7 has less than 2k. I dont like racking up lots of miles and killing the resale. I usually drive 5-6k per year and that is what makes me happy. If you put 20k on yours per year thats great, but thats not why I have mine.

My previous 2 C6s were daily drivers put right around 50k on each odometer. They still ran like new. On my C7 I have had it for 5 months and still under 1400 miles. I hate to say it but I enjoy driving my Hummer to and from work and using the C7 for play.

When I had to daily commute, I used my last Corvette as a daily driver (Illinois). Certainty got dirty but she cleaned up nicely (as weather would permit). Lived on a oil and rock chipped road also. When I sold her, she still looked great, even with the extra road chips.

There is a certain mental hurdle which has to be overcome when going the daily driver route. Once you make it, you can enjoy the car every day. It can be a tough hurdle for some especially withe the cost of a new C7 and if you want to keep the car as close to showroom new condition as you can.

My C7 is a "blue sky" driver living in Florida (which is approx 320 days a year). Retirement allows the option of choosing the days you want to venture out of stay home or drive the second car.

Resale value (which should never be a concern when you buy a car IMO) isn't going to be that different from a garage queen to a DD, as long as the DD is maintained (documented) , runs well and looks good. In reality a properly priced car is far easier to sell than one that his priced higher because it been sitting in a garage (where that added value is subjective).

Enjoy your cars gentlemen, we only have so many years on this planet.
