I had a Procharger installed on my 2014 Z51 with Horizontal intercooler and I am now having (2) issues:
1. At idle the cabin has a very strong gas smell that goes away when car is moving.
2. If I really get on it and get up over 5500 RPM, the engine goes into limp mode (reduced power) I then have to pull over, shut the car down open the car door and restart, The car runs on all cylinders again but engine light remains on fir the next few starts,
Car runs great unless I really open it up. Then it shuts down. The gas in the cabin smell. I've tried a few things but no luck yet. At this point, I can't get my wife or my kids to ride along with me due to gas smell. ( come to think of it, maybe I should fix it)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Who tuned it? Or is it the canned Procharger tune?
If you have a gas smell you have a fuel leak. I would flatbed the car back to whoever did the install. The last thing you want is a engine fire. Your insurance might also be reluctant to pay on a modified car. Find the fuel leak then work on the other issue.

I feel like i read something like this reference gas smell at idle and procharger said it is going to happen??? I can't remember though
your not crazy, I remember reading a thread or two about this very issue. Not sure what they were called though. Do some searching, im sure it will turn up..

Who was the tuner? Was the ProCharger the only thing added at this time?
1. At idle the cabin has a brutal gas smell...goes away when car is moving.
2.Runs great 'til I get on it...@ 5500 RPM, engine goes to limp mode. Have to pull over, shut down, open door & restart...runs on all cylinders but engine light remains on for the next few starts.
Did you also install a breather system like the LMR breather with the SC? The LMR breather is near the cabin filter so the fumes from the pcv system are getting into the car.
I would also contact the tuner who did the install/tune, there are way too many things for us all to "guess" what the problem may be. If h's not a reputable tuner and knows how to tune a DI engine I would take it to someone who is.
We can rule out fuel leak. It smells like it's running real rich. I'm thinking it's expelled from the pressure relief valve when the back pressure is released. I know there is a cabin filter by the windshield but I think there might be a 2nd air intake in the bumper. What I think is happening is some air intake other than the one we know of that is filtered is sucking in the bad air from the blow off valve and into the cabin. Since I don't know how air filters into the cabin other than from the filtered inlet, I can't figure out where the bad air is getting picked up. Purchased a Elite Engineering catch can, but had to remove it as I can't get anyone from Elite to answer voice messages or email to tell me how to install it. The location they want you to install it in no longer exists as it gets plugged as part of the SC installation.
Thanks
Jim
Does this company have experience with DI engines?
I would ask a Moderator to move this over to the tech section, you will get a lot more feedback. Most of the gearheads don't come to the general discussion area.
I believe that the smell has to do with the routing of the PCV system. Did you get a custom dyno tune, or did you install the supplied ProCharger tune with their Diablo tuner? You would be best served by contacting ProCharger's tech support.

Your engine is going into limp mode due to the PCM reading air flow values beyond the allowable limits in the associated table. Your tuner should be able to alter the AF table to eliminate this. My Procharged C5 427 did the same thing until the table was adjusted.
