I have the M7. It starts in whatever mode I shut it off, except Track. If you shut it off in Track mode, the it starts in Tour Mode. That is by design per the OM.
Also, does the various modes really even matter if you don't have magnetic ride? I know what all the adjustments are in general (from reading the manual) but I just don't see it doing much difference from the seat of your pants unless you have magnetic ride, then it's a substantial difference.
As for what others said, it'll restart in Tour or Sport if I leave them there or go to Tour if I shut down in Track mode.
Absolutely. Throttle progression and steering feel change with mode, MSRC or not.
I'll give you steering feel but throttle input is the same to me, all too sensitive on all settings compared to a C6
It could be that the settings in drive by wire are sensitive. I find the car somewhat lethargic. I drive in Eco because most of my trips are over the road. It definitely makes a difference in throttle response. Fortunately for you there are many excellent C6's with low millage available, if you find the throttle response better.

dude I own a C6 and a C7
The C6 throttle delivery is more linear (even with the blower installed on mine). The C7 is very snappy. I think GM programmed it as such for the newb driver to fast cars. They can just tap the gas and go "whoa OMG so ooo fast!!!"
All European models start always in Eco mode. There is a difference to US models.
Unfortunately this setting is not changeable. But you can set your motor sound management to track, then you have your flaps in the NPP always open.

Interesting comment, because I've read quite a few posts complaining that the C7 throttle tip in is too slow. IOW, non-linear in the other direction: 50% pedal travel is much less than 50% throttle.

Obviously you exerpiance what others do not. With the C7 it depends on what mode you are driving when you step on the gas. So which car do you drive more? Your C6 or your C7?

These days 50/50. Typically moreso the C6. Now it's the C7 as I'm having some little gremlins in the C6 keeping it down for the moment.
The throttle in general on the C7 is not linear to me. Perfect place I notice it not being right is trying to get the RPMs to hold if you're trying to get a good launch from a stop. It likes to continually creep up the RPMs and is very touchy when the clutch is pressed down.
On the flip side, the cltuch is very touchy taking off from a light in a normal fashion. If you don't give it enough gas then on the opposite end of the spectrum you can get close to stalling it.
Granted, I've gotten used to it over time and neither one of these is a big issue currently. I do like the C6 in that it's easier to drive. My fiance, who 80% of the time is in the C7 over the C6 told me straight up that the C6 is an easier to drive car (clutch, throttle response, visibility out of car). She still loves the C7 more for everything else.
