Here is something I have been wondering about for awhile.
With hundreds of cars leaving the B.G. plant and being trucked and shipped by rail, do all the fobs have a factory generic code ? One fob will start any car. Units are being handled by multiple people between B.G. and the selling dealer, so are the fobs programmed to each car when it arrives for it's PDR. Just wondering?????
Each FOB is unique to the car. The Unique RFID code in each FOB allows for over 4 billion unique codes in addition to the manufacturers preamble so I don't think you have to worry about someone else's fob operating your car.
Just curious but how does GM ship the fobs? It couldn't be with the cars could it?
It'd be terrible to order a car & the fob get delayed or lost.
With the cars. The fobs are inside cars with all the other things bulit with car. I remember there was a time when the keys would be in the doors as the cars went down the road.
Could an aftermarket guy produce a small (silver dollar size) fob that only permitted unlocking and ignition? Most of the time you don't need the other functions
It would be great to not have to carry the fob with you!!!!
