How can I figure out what is causing this annoying squeak.
I have a squeak sound coming from the right side of my car. Sounds like styrofoam rubbing together. You know that sound when you unpack stereo equipment and those custom foam pieces rub together?
The sound is worse when I have the car in sport or track, or going over stiff bumps. Sound started at around 350 miles, and has gotten worse. I can't hear it with the top off because of too much outside noise.
When you are trying to locate a squeak that only shows up when the car is moving your most important tool is a passenger The passenger can easily use the locational properties of his/her ears by turning as necessary without endangering anyone and can also apply pressure to suspected noise points again without distraction from driving.
A secondary tool for the passenger, to be used only when other cars aren't around since no one wants goofy looking Corvette passengers, is to use a funnel shaped device around an ear to improve the directional properties of the ear. A piece of cardboard rolled in a funnel shape will suffice. Again please do this in a deserted area so photos of a geeky looking passenger in a C7 aren't plastered across the web!
I isolated the squeak to the passenger door, just behind the mirror.
I guess I have to take off the panel, and tape/cover/ the honeycomb or tab or whatever is protruding.
I'm somewhat nervous about pulling off the panel. What are the chances that I break the push pins? How difficult is it to put the panel back on (I usually find that putting something back together is the more difficult process)? Outside of fixing the squeak, is there anything else I should do while the panel is off?

It may be the NPP baffles they can make quite a racket too. I got heavy grease and a small paint brush and slathered the hell out of the contact points and mine is quiet now.

Try the speaker grill right by the open door button, mine squeaks, i had a passenger push slightly on it while driving and it stopped.
