Default Spring Mountain - Insurance?

For those that have been to Spring Mountain, how was insurance handled? Does your auto insurance cover you, considering it is not a City/State or Federal road? Has anyone contacted their auto insurance company to see if they are covered when taking a "defensive driving course", although I'm not sure the Ron Fellow's Corvette School qualifies as such...

I understand that the student is responsible for up to $8000 of damage to the car and for $200 that gets reduced to $2000. Auto insurance is not applicable.

You are correct. I was there just last week.

Half of the class paid the $200 insurance including myself.

The instructors said that some students drive above their limits and they had some cars with serious damages due to running off the course.

Default Spring Mtn Insurance

When I took the 3-day course some of the guys took the insurance to buy down the deductible some of us did not.
No one needed to use the insurance they bought during the 3-day course we did.

I believe only 1 person out of 19 in our group last year purchased the insurance. There were no problems.
