For those that have been to Spring Mountain, how was insurance handled? Does your auto insurance cover you, considering it is not a City/State or Federal road? Has anyone contacted their auto insurance company to see if they are covered when taking a "defensive driving course", although I'm not sure the Ron Fellow's Corvette School qualifies as such...

You are correct. I was there just last week.
Half of the class paid the $200 insurance including myself.
The instructors said that some students drive above their limits and they had some cars with serious damages due to running off the course.
When I took the 3-day course some of the guys took the insurance to buy down the deductible some of us did not.
No one needed to use the insurance they bought during the 3-day course we did.
