Default Voltage drop Question

My car would not go into competition mode / Launch control. The mirror would not stay set either. So the dealer had it 3 days and came to the conclusion that the cars battery had run all the way down and when it was powered back up some the modules had lost the memory. So they ended up resetting all the modules and ecm.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue? or would letting the battery run down cause something like this?

Some questions to answer first:

Batteries very seldom discharge on their own.

Did you leave something on to discharge the battery?

When was the car started or used last, was it stored for a long period of time with out a battery maintainer?

You say that the cars battery had run all the way down and when it was powered back up some the modules had lost the memory. So they ended up resetting all the modules and ecm. When it was powered back up as you stated did you have to boost the car to get it started or did it start on it's own? If it started on it's own the voltage drop should not have been enough to kill the memory of the modules.

Cant answer any of those question since i just bought the car 2 days before i brought it to dealer. And the ONLY reason i knew something was up because the car wouldnt go in to Competition Mode. It sat at the other dealer for over 100 days so i dont know how long it was dead (if that was the case).... i just wanna know IF one runs dead like that will it loose memory or anything along those lines.
