Am I doing something wrong!!
AndyA221:
After applying the polish, just buff it off with a microfiber towel or foam buffer pad (usually black for finish work) then apply your paint coating or paint sealant.
I detail allot of custom cars and classics. I did an 1965 Sunbeam Tiger over the weekend. Took 7 hours from start to finish. Here's what I used, and here's a few photos of the end result, shine, and reflective qualities of the paint surface.
Hand washed the Sunbeam Tiger with Meguiars Gold Car Wash, Clay Barred the paint surface with Meguiars Clay Bar kit. Washed the car again with Rain-X Spot Free rinseless wash and then air dried the car using a Air Force Master Blaster car dryer. Polished the paint surface with DP Prep Polish using a Meguiars DA (Dual Action) buffer with Meguiars Soft Buff 7" pad and a Griots gargage 3" Random Orbital buffer for the smaller areas. Used microfiber towels to buff out the polish. Then used Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating (nano ceramic coating) applied with Lake Country Foam applicators. I buffed the surface by hand with high grade microfiber towels. Let car sit over night in my garage under a car cover so the paint coating would cure into the paint surface. Then next day....hand waxed the car with Meguiars 3" round foam applicator using Pinnacle Black Label Synergy Wax, and hand buffed once again using high grade Microfiber Gold Plush towels. The wax is a 5 oz. can with a cost of $195.00. It is nano ceramic wax with high grade 1st quality Brazilian Carnuba Wax particles infused into the material. While the photos like fantastic and the reflection and shine is fantastic, you should see the car in person. Looks better than "showroom condition" and the shine will last for years. This is a $98,000 car. All products used were specially selected for this specific automobile. You can google the products used if you like.
I also did my 2015 Corvette C7 Torch Red exactly the same. The C7 is stunning.

Most expensive paint product I have ever bought lol.
I did my pickup truck first just to try polisher and not burn finish---came out great looks better than new no peel ---I wish I could say that about vette-but it looks better-afraid to keep going and ruin paint
