Default Modding is a disease

Haven't even had the car 24 hours yet, and I've already started. I'm the same way with my motorcycles--until I got them the way I wanted, I think I spent more time modding than riding.

Haven't done much, yet, but this morning I installed the GM splash guards. (They're not very big, are they? But at least they don't look bad.)

Also installed these:

Not sure I like the fish badge in person as much as I did in pictures. Oh, well. I can always put the stock one back on if I want. And I've got an Elite catch can, a curb alert, and wheel locks to put on, but those will have to wait until next weekend. My doc says nothing "strenuous" for another week.

Just part of the fun. There are a LOT of us here that also suffer from your affliction.

Not only is modding a disease like most diseases it can be very expensive.

Have the same disease and had more time to have it progress! Have the Stingray Floor Mats, GM Splash Guards, C7 Logo Valve Caps, Elite Catch Can, and Wheel Locks. It spread to an Elite Clean Air Separator, Stingray Sill Plates, Cue Ball Size Stingray Shift ****, Carbon Fiber Side Skirts (when I found GM Splash Guards helped on the rear panel but not the rocker panels) a CF Hood Vent, Carbotech 1521 Brake Pads, Blind Spot Mirrors, Skip Shift Eliminator, Skid Pad Protectors, Deer Whistles, Door Panel Protectors, Nylon Bra and a few other minor items. Don’t believe it’s under control yet! Expect a few more outbreaks!

Love your valve stem covers. What's the source for those and the floor mats?

Thanks and good luck with your illness.

Modding is a disease

I could not agree more. It certainly can break the bank! Had about $15,000 in mods on my 1999 FRC. And, that was mostly engine dress with some power mods. Hope I am over that fixation. Don't think I will be doing that to the 2015 Stingray. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Maybe)

I've been doing it for more than 15 years (10 cars) but I'm not addicted.

Valve stems are GM Part # 23124199. About $18.50 from GM Parts Direct. Plus shipping, of course, so if you order multiple items it's more cost effective.

Mats are Lloyds ultimats: http://lloydmats.com/

They're available from quite a few forum vendors, in your choice of colors and logos.

Nice looking car. A number of the things you list above are on the agenda already. Actually, already ordered the novistretch bra, and will probably get the painted door panel protectors and "fangs", too. I had planned to get the CAG eliminator, but so far haven't had the thing go from 1st to 4th. We'll see what happens in rush hour traffic this week.

I think I've read every article on your very informative site, btw. Definitely a "go to" place before starting a project. Thanks for putting all that together.

I never got the modding disease. Only thing I changed is the valve stem caps (the only component I feel GM failed quality wise on this car), Not a mod an upgrade. I did go with the premium mat option when I ordered the car. I do get new car fever, the 2016 is starting to effect me, think I can make 2017???

At least I can tell myself that modding is cheaper than a new car.

I've modded all my cars over the years and almost always suspension and brakes first. We probably have the only Buick Century to have a suspension so heavily modified that it can stick with most cars on the offramps. Then came adding factory options - can't not have express down passenger power windows on the station car...the digital readouts when they were in vogue. And on and on....but the Stingray? Dumped the fish and added Lloyds mats but that has been it for now. Looking at the sound deadener when the kit comes out for the convertible and the BOSE Blows (the power of marketing is amazing), so that may be next...

It may be a disease, but for a start OP, those are very tasteful mods.

Cheers.

I don't know, some of the mods cost way more than yearly depreciation.

You guys consider floor mats and valve stem caps mods?

Looks more like accessorizing to me.

Not factory original (NCRS) would consider them mods! You can't argue with the NCRS.
