Newbie C7 owner here. I have used search and found some threads about loading POI. The question I have is can the C7 nav present an audio alert when approaching a POI? I loaded the US part of the SCDB database and the red light camera appear on the map now. It would be really useful if the car "dinged" when a POI was loaded. I do not see any alert feature like this in the manual.
Anyone know if the C& nav supports an audio alert when approaching a POI?
Can I ask why you would need to be extra careful around them?
If you are obeying traffic laws then they don't present any issue and you should not even know they are there.
I live in an area where they are everywhere. Never been issued a ticket for one and don't really pay too much attention to which intersections do/don't have them.
Wife was issued a ticket by one once and disputed that she did anything wrong. When I went online to view it the video actually showed her rolling the stop light.
I'm sure he doesn't want to run the lights. Just wants a heads up so he can be extra careful around them. Totally reasonable to me.
Thank you!
To the others: ARGH! Please don't be a nanny. What are you guys smoking?
The Kenwood aftermarket Nav I had in my previous C6 had this feature. The Acura I have has this feature. My wife's Escort radar detector has this feature.
Either please answer the question or go somewhere else and chill out. Sheesh. Let's not have yet another 30 page thread with the Big Gooberment Nanny's comments. Let's please try to remain focused.

I am happy no one has ever smashed into the back of you at one of these big gooberment death traps. All they do is raise revenue for the local pocket pickers and the companies that install them. Studies have shown that intersections that have them installed have more accidents. Some towns have finally wised up and are removing them. It alerts me to watch my rearview mirror so that another idiot does not smash up my tail pipe again.

Any of the better radar detectors have that feature and most of them are updateable. Thed Escort Max for instance . With regards to the RLCams , for the most part it has been proven that they are revenue streams, at best they have not proven to be the deterent that they were reported to be. I received a ticket and surveyed the timing cycles of all of the lights on that street and found that those with the cams have had their timing rolled back. Fortunately for me I looked up what the min. time in the state was and low and behold, they were less... I won that ticket.....
There are several red light camera money generators in my town.
The "worst" on is on a 16 thru lane (4 each way) + 8 turn lane intersection, with a yellow barely long enough for you to get across at the posted speed, much less during rush hour.
Especially with a McD's, a gas station, starbuck, dunkin donuts, 7-11, a strip mall, and a Cosco as the corner anchors.
So yea, I can see where the heads up alert from NAV would be a useful thing.
(My cheap TomTom does it)
Friend was driving home from soccer practice with his son, grabbed some snacks, and shortly afterwards had an accident with another car who slammed on the brakes.
The lady who stopped short said she was afraid of getting a red light camera ticket so she stood on the brake pedal well before she needed too.
His son was eating while this happened and choked. Luckily they were able to dislodge the food and save him.
Accidents happen, and hindsight is 20/20. I'm just glad everyone made it home ok and that these cameras are disappearing from the roads.

Why would you be more careful around redlights with cameras than other ones??? Shouldn't you treat all redlights the same?
If I am understanding the OP correctly he wants to know which redlights have cameras, only one reason I can think of to want to know that and it's against the law. If that's true then this thread should be locked.

All are bull crap too! My 9500 escort tells me where they are.
I speed 15mph over the worthless limitstoo! Could careless about the nannies chiming in.
I honestly don't get what the point is, unless you plan on intentionally running red lights...
I understand that you want to be "aware" of where they are, but unless you're planning on running them why does it even matter? Contrary to what many people think, red light cameras do not start taking pictures immediately after the light turns red. It gives you 2-3 seconds of grace so that people barely making yellows don't all get docked with tickets. For it to actually "catch" you, you have to blatantly run it.
Not to mention in my state at least, no violation not given by an officer carries points. Even if I do happen to run one not that big a deal, $80 ticket .

I don't know about you but I enjoy running red lights. As a matter of fact, I was intending on going out this evening for an ice cream and run a few until it started raining. Fortunately we have no cameras in my town, so I'm free to run just about any light when there's no pesky police presence. With the ability to receive a warning from my sat nav I can take my little hobby nationwide.

Many municipalities cut the yellow's extra short to generate revenue. You do not have to blatantly run it. abuses have been discovered all over the country. More and more places are banning them in that they do not generally decrease accidents. They are more and more being recognized for what they are "blatant revenues generators to line the municipalities pockets". If you want to donate $80 to their cause that is fine.
The Op is right to want to know where they are so as not to be a victim to their many abuses.
