Transmission Lunging
Thanks for the opportunity to that allow us to share our concerns. I've owned five Vettes in 30 yrs. I have recently purchased my 2015 Z51. My 50th is covered in the garage waiting for my daughter to get a little older. So, I'm coming with experience and rare disappointment.
My C7 isn't driven much- not daily. After it sits for a few days, 50% of the time when I put it in reverse to back out of the garage, the car doesn't move. I can put it back in park, drive, back in reverse, etc...
However, when it eventually "kicks in" reverse, my Vette lunges backwards and the sound is terrifying.
I've heard several "horror" stories about "updates," "solenoid," "GM experiments," and "replacements." However, I'm not sure what to believe.
Any insight? Trend? Replications?
Thanks,
RoyC7

Second, I have a manual but have tried a few times to see if my electric parking brake would automatically release as I back out of the garage, as I believe it is supposed to. It has a once or twice but takes a lot of force and once it stalled so I gave up. Have had the same thing occur when moving forward where for sure it is supposed to automatically release. It often did not so I always release the parking brake manually, no big deal.
Could be your parking brake is sticking and not releasing as it should. Remember you need to have your brake pedal depressed to have it release.

Probably not the transmission, sounds like the electronic parking brake. As mentioned, depress the brake pedal first or just manually release the parking brake.
