Default C7 Hatchback Opening?

Hi Guys, Does anyone know if GM (or aftermarket?) makes struts or an automatic lift mechanism for a 2014 C7 hatchback. The car is amazing but the hatchback design sucks. When I "pop" the trunk, the hatchback only rises about an inch to get my fingers in and manually lift it. you would think that a car of this value and pride in design would lift the hatch automatically? Is this normal or is there something wrong with my struts or ??? Thanks!!

No, nothing is wrong and you even have a handle to assist in closing which previously was discontinued. There are lots more things like curb detectors which I would urge the General to spend $ on.

Not sure what is difficult to pull it up from where it unlatches but if you had nitrogen filled struts that raised it all the way up the force to close might mean even having a door open to latch would not be good enough! For 2016 GM finally admitted their memory wire activated latch did not work as designed (at least for many cars) and is going back to a motorized pull down to latch like I had in my C6. Assume the warranty costs with paint cracking from folks pushing to latch and flexing the hatch frame was also part of their motivation! Perhaps struts that fully opened the hatch would be viable with that latching arrangement. They also added curb detection and some other new features.
Now for what ever reason you feel strongly about it they have lead screw motorized openers and closers used on Street Rods. They are usually remotely operated. Looks cool at shows! However I don't believe they actually latch, think they just stay where you set the stops.

Hi, I don't see any handle to help close the hatch...I just grab it by the outside and close firmly??? 2014 C7 Stingray...

It's not difficult to open, I just thought that it should lift up by itself like the hood does. Once you pop the hood and lift it a few inches, the hydraulic struts take over and raise it. The hatchback has to be lifted pretty much all of the way up?? The car is a brand new 2014 C7, 500 miles on it.

Do the coupes open from the rear? I've only had my 65 in a coupe which doesn't open. All the rest of the vettes I've owned were converts.

Yes, it has the same button "hidden" above the license plate that the Vert does.
