Yes unless the Cop is still munching on a doughnut, than you may be okay.

Thinking about it, accelerating in a AWD Tesla is probably the stealhtest to go. Why? It looks just a regular 4 doors sedan, since it is 100% electric, there is no muffler or engine sound at all and very limited chirping because of awd.

Exhibition by acceleration. Very expensive ticket and insurance hit.

Straight from California's books:

------------------------------------
Exhibition of Speed

(c) A person shall not engage in a motor vehicle exhibition of speed on a highway, and a person shall not aid or abet in a motor vehicle exhibition of speed on any highway.

Note: Some common acts which are treated as exhibition of speed include: burning or squealing tires or other forms of allowing tires to lose traction, performing “wheelie” maneuvers on a motorcycle, doing other types of motorcycle stunts, or accelerating at a high rate of speed from a stop light/sign or from a lesser moving speed.

I once received a ticket for "accelerating too fast' Was followed for 2 miles before he pulled me over. I never saw him because it was at night. I was able to take a online class and had it expunged from my driving record. I tried to argue that a there is no way a V6 Camaro could accelerate too fast, but he didn't want to hear that. Little did he know my V6 was putting down 430 hp to the wheels- supercharged....

I don't hole shot off a red light unless I have perfect visibility that nobody is going to run a red light. I have seen too many people around here run those left turn signals in front of me to risk it. That also means I know there aren't any cops.

Most PD's don't have a quota as far as traffic tickets go. The Dept supplies the pens and the books of tickets too. Like I said, there's no quota on tickets, (they give us as many as we can write.)
