So starting out with the story, I really wanted to install the Z06 grille for my C7 and I had contacted many dealers in which they were giving me a quote of $350-400 to install the grille. I thought to myself that it is almost double what the part Itself actually costs. I did not think it was a good price for that.
Later on I decided in the forum to ask where to go to get it installed and if there were any places that would do it at a better price point. A user by the name, MThomas, commented and offered me to come by his place in Ohio to get it installed, for free. I drove on over, about 4 hours and 40min, where I met a very nice man who had a passion for corvettes that amazed me. We went on to another fellow corvette forum members place to help with the installation. Everyone I met was so nice and friendly, but also showed a similar interest in corvettes.
Many of them had owned far more vettes than I have, the C7 was my first one. But this experience with such amazing people and their hospitality, really puts the difference in purchasing a corvette or a different brand of sports car. I can say that by just this experience alone, I would love to stick with the corvette community for a long time.
Now, that's what I'm talkin' about!
Really cool that you met up with some Vette-aholics. This is what the "brotherhood" is all about. And you got to take a cruse, meet some good people, see some nice Corvettes and enjoy some good weather.
It is always nice when others offer to help those who are not so mechanically able, although the grille installation is fairly simple it is time consuming and can be a daunting task.
Happy for you that this was offered to you and helped to welcome you to the world of Corvettes. I can't imagine this in the Porsche community or other high end cars ( maybe Ferrari ), allthough there are many "car guys the drive the high end cars they mostly don't do there own work. Vette guys, hell we're just a bunch of blue collar boys under the skin.
Great story and thanks for sharing with us.
Forgot to add, nice photos.
Great story!!! This will be my first corvette also. I should be picking up from the dealer mid to late June. I waited many years before making this purchase. I needed to be sure my 4 sons were educated well and able to stand on their feet. My wife thought I was crazy when I told her about my plans. She said we are too old (very early 60's) to be riding around in a Vette!!! But she's on broad now. Your story is just another story about the many corvette folks out there who have a real passion for their cars and helping other owners by pointing them in the right direction. Again Great job guys and the grille looks great!

Why did you let yourself get so old. Remember age is a mind set! I have been 29 for years.

There are some very good people here on the forum that will really go the distance to help other owners out. Glad you met some members and made a change to your car.
Mark Thomas has been a good friend to many on this forum for quite some time. I've seen him at the last several museum bashes and am embarrassed to say that I've never taken the opportunity to introduce myself. Next year for sure!
