Spring Mountain - Question
Hi All,
I'm heading to spring mountain in few weeks, and so excited.
I have few questions:
I know you have to bring list of items like, Sun glasses, SD card for PDR, Notebook / pen for the class room to write notes, small camera. etc.
How did you guys carried all these stuff to the class room? did you guys carried a small bag or something to put all these stuff? If you do that Do they allow you to carry it with you while you are driving car in the track ?
May be this is a stupid question but just wanted to know, otherwise carrying notebooks, camera's in hand is not going to be comfortable outside the class.

They don't want you to take loose objects into the cars, but there were shelves with compartments where we could leave things in the classroom. I carried my camera in a case that straps on my belt, so I could snap some photos when sitting in the car (not in motion) or when we were out around the cars. Rick joked about people trying to hold a cell phone while they drive - of course a no-no.
I put my other stuff in a cloth bag and left it on the shelf.

+1 on the above. I took a laptop envelope style carry bag that held everything I needed to take. Keys, cell phone, notepad, pencil, sunglasses etc. I used a Garmin Virb Elite with a suction cup mount that I carried in my pocket along with an SD card. You will have plenty of time to insert the memory card or take 3 seconds to mount a camera. I just left my bag with the stuff in it on my chair in the class as they said no one else was using the room while we were on the track, although we did have the cubby holes there too but I don't remember anyone using them.
I did not use sunglasses while driving at the suggestion of the instructors who mentioned they tend to interfere some with the visual scanning methods they teach. I thought that would be a problem for me but I never noticed while on the track.
You will come back with a big smile on your mug!

I didn't see anyone taking notes in class. You won't be able to refer to them at speed anyway. Most everything you need to know they will tell you over the in-car radio in real time.
They give each person a refillable hard plastic water bottle (with your name on it) that will fit the center console. The drinking valve on the bottle was crappy and hard to drink out of, but better than nothing.
Might want to put your name on your SD card lest you forget it.
During my class two or three cars had the car cell phone ring while on the track at speed. The driver's cell phones were obviously not paired to the car and the instructors had been trying to figure out the source of the calls. I don't think it was OnStar.

I took a backpack that I carried all my stuff in when I did the April class. I put it on the passenger floorboard when we were driving. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my wallet and phone, etc. in the classroom although I am sure it would have been safe.
