Anybody else paranoid about what it's recording? I haven't gotten the car yet and want to disable it... I picture big brother GM tracking my car usage for review against future warranty claims
On Star would be bored to tears if they were to watch me. I don't give a good dog fart what On Star does.. I think I'm about to cancel O/S on both my rides. My smart phone has a gps that works just as good as O/S and it does not cost me any extra to use it for it's gps..

If you're of the tinfoil hat persuasion, don't worry about OnStar, worry about the "black box" recorder that's been in every new cars for years and can be used in lawsuits and accident reconstruction.
What would GM track that has to do with warranty claims that's not already tracked.
Heck, if it bothered me I'd get rid of my cell phone before worrying about OnStar. For the paranoid crowd, your cell phone most likely has GPS if its a smart phone. With that all moves you make can be tracked. Including speed.
I went with a new insurance company that said if I attached their telemetry box to my car I'd automatically save at least 5%. Even after multiple 30-100 pulls it still says i'll save 15%. My wife, who drives like a grandama is only saving 7%. She drives more miles but has a lot more hard braking and hard acceleration than I do.
Point being, you are probably already tracked by something. I would not be worried about it.

The "black box" recorder is the one that could BITE you; that's the one too worry about
The black box should be the first thing you pull out of your car. Its your car and your data.
I never heard of a way to pull out or disable the black box and still have the car work. Any ideas on how to do that?
I think you can put some C4 on the thing have have it self destruct ala Mission Impossible - or give it to the Hildabeast and have her make the data disappear without a trace.

That is something to worry about, if GM or your insurance wants to know anything about what you did with the car it's all there in the "black box". OnStar is just a service convenience to the consumer.

I'm pretty sure the "black box" is part of the main computer system. You can remove it, but only if you don't actually want to drive the car.

True story. When GM was designing the PDR it initially was going to have a feature to video record the driver in valet mode. The lawyers had a field day with that & said the recording of the valet was illegal without their permission. The interior camera was deleted.
