I was putting the XPEL covers on my C7 headlights today, and I messed up the passenger side. Basically, there is a narrow line where the film has "doubled up" on itself, resulting in a 1" straight, elevated line of material toward the front of the light. Hard to get a good picture of it, due to the angles and reflections.
Am I just SOL, or does someone know if there is a way (short of removing it and getting a new piece) of fixing the damage?
Try some heat to soften the film and gently separate. You could also try and cut the excess overlap. It would take a very sharp blade and an incredible steady hand. Post a picture if you can.
If possible could you get a picture of what your talking about? I know you said its hard to get a picture of it, but with a picture we could help advise as to what to do.
I never do this sort of stuff myself. When I did it ended up costing more money.I just hire it done.
Amen to that. So many cars on the road scream “I did the tint myself” and it looks like that, bubbles everywhere, tacky looking. I’ve seen videos linked to this site where someone did XPEL themselves and it looks like quite a job.
I had XPEL done here in San Antonio by the corporate office. Trainees come from all over the country for the classes, one was from Hawaii when my car was in the shop. I’d assume they don’t do that for grins. I let them do it and they did an excellent job.
I’ve worked successfully on my cars for decades, I wouldn’t do the XPEL myself on a bet. Don
