C3 to C7?
I am less than two months away from driving home with my new C7.
(1LT-Z51, TR, black interior, black wheels, M7.) The car was ordered from helpful associates at MacMulkin.
My first Corvette was a '69--see avatar, and that sold last April. One of the reasons I sold the car was to purchase a C7. Anyone else leap forward by three or more generations to buy a C7?

Yes, just ordered a NRB Z51, and have a 71 Convertible... 350 4-sp (very stock but with some... "ahem" non-factory cams, headers and induction... pulls 6,500 all day long... neighbors hate it... my wife hates it.)
Love the 71, great for a Sunday cruise, reluctantly idles between 850-950 RPM, and the thing will do 90MPH in second gear... get's kind of floaty, and scares the *** out of me.
Congrats on the C7... too bad you had to sell the C3, though... they're great cars.

I went from a C-2, (Riverside Red, 327/365 4speed Close Ratio 64 Convertible) to a C-7, (Torch Red, Z-51, M-7, 2014 Convertible). Still have the the 64, and they get along great in the garage. I'd send a photo of the two of them if I could figure out how to do it.
I figure buying a new Vette every 50 years should keep GM in business!
I forgot to mention, the C-2 was my first car, bought it when I came out of the service!

I ordered and purchased my C3
'71 in May of that year. Still have it.
Last year I took possession of a C7 @ the museum. No offense to anyone, but the C4, C5 and C6 never appealed to me. For the first time in 43 years, the C7 caught my eye.
The styling of the C7 has some resemblance to the C3. I love the "Stringray" name. What really attracted me is that fact that the C7 could rip off 11 sec. quarter miles AND get over 30 MPH. Most cars could do one or the other and not both.

Rudolph, your pics made me think about a pattern, maybe the majority of C3 owners stay with primary color choice across the generations. Very nice, congrats!

Impressions
With a little over a week behind the wheel of the C7, my initial impressions about the car exceed expectations. The C7 is a stunningly beautiful car. I've noted a perfect fit and finish all the way around-only detailed the car once, but the paint is perfect and the panels fit together as they should.
In comparison to the C3--see avatar, the C7:
does not dart in the lanes rutted with deep grooves
roof panel weighs less than 1/2 of the C3 T-top. (at least it feels that way)
NPP in Sport or Track mode is significantly quieter in the cabin, in Tour mode, my wife thinks we're in a sedan
handles the corners like it is on rails
still gets the thumbs up from onlookers
the hood weighs a fraction of the 1969 hood
the cabin is a tighter fit
base sound system and phone pairing is a nice feature
does not have a fiber optics system
blind spot seems larger
is thrilling to drive

Also very cool!
I have a 68 and, yes, it's a totally different beast than the c7!
Here are both at a Cars and Coffee show here in Dallas.

Till a month ago my '72 was the newest Vette I'd ever owned. I switched to Dodge for newer stuff a while back. When the C7 Z06 came out I decided it was time to come back to Chevy for the next new car.

Up until I got my C7 stick in April, the last corvette I had and drove was a 68 427 convertible in a stick. Day and night difference in acceleration and handling-not to mention technology. The big blocks of yesteryear are nothing special acceleration wise compared to today's cars, unless you got a 3.70, 4.11 or 4.56 axle ratio. Today's C7 is a 3.42 for the stick.
