It would be nice to have the HUD display which gear the A8 is in when it's in auto mode just like it does in manual mode. It really doesn't mean much just to see the big "D" indicating drive. Is there a way to do this?
I'm sure it's deeply imbedded in the software and an update would be required. That said, I'd also like to see the specific gear indicated on the HUD and DIC, as if I'm moving forward the "D" is only telling me what I already know. FWIW, at cruise you can shift down to "M" to spot-check the gear you're in.

The info in the HUD seams to decrease with each generation. My C5 had the most info directional and gas gauge. the C6 doesn't have the gas gauge and my C7 has nothing except speed RPMs and G Force. No directional no gauges.
Hello GM its 2015 not 1985 is anyone home?
I'm guessing they wanted to de-clutter the HUD. I agree with the desire to display the gear no matter what. Something like that is just a matter of a software update.
As far as turn signals, fuel, anything that isn't currently available to display...it won't happen on this generation of Corvette. The HUD has to have the input to it in order to display said info. The HUD projector is capable..no doubt. But info sent up stream of that to a symbol generator (or whatever they call it in a car) isn't there.
